Angels acquire RHP Jesse Chavez and LHP Tucker Davidson from Atlanta

RHP Raisel Iglesias traded to Braves

ANAHEIM - The Angels today acquired RHP Jesse Chavez and LHP Tucker Davidson from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for RHP Raisel Iglesias.

Chavez, 38, has played 15 seasons in the Major Leagues for nine different Clubs, including stints with the Angels in 2017 and 2021 Spring Training. This season, he appeared in 34 combined games (one start) with the Cubs and Braves, pitching to a 1-1 record and 2.66 ERA (44 IP - 13 ER) and 50 strikeouts. Chavez has maintained a 1.08 ERA (25 IP - 3 ER) and held opposing hitters to a .187 batting average against in 19 relief appearances since June 1.

A native of San Gabriel, CA, Chavez was drafted by Texas in the 42nd round of the 2002 Draft out of Riverside Community College. The right-hander owns a career record of 45-61 and a 4.36 ERA (1010.2 IP - 490 ER) with 918 strikeouts across his 15 Major League seasons. 

Davidson, 26, has played three Major League seasons with the Braves, including four games (three starts) this season. A native of Amarillo, TX, he was originally selected by Atlanta in the 19th round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of Midland College (Midland, TX). 

Iglesias, 32, has played in 104 games across parts of two seasons with the Angels, compiling a 9-11 record with 50 saves and a 3.07 ERA (105.2 IP - 36 ER) with 151 strikeouts.
