Angels acquire OF Mickey Moniak and OF Jadiel Sanchez from Philadelphia

RHP Noah Syndergaard traded to Phillies

ANAHEIM - The Angels today acquired OF Mickey Moniak and OF Jadiel Sanchez from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for RHP Noah Syndergaard. Sanchez will be assigned to Low-A Inland Empire.

Moniak, 24, has split this season between Philadelphia and Triple-A Lehigh Valley, appearing in 18 Major League games for the Phillies. A native of Encinitas, Calif., Moniak was originally selected by Philadelphia as the first overall pick in the 2016 Draft out of La Costa Canyon HS (Carlsbad, CA).

Sanchez, 21, appeared in 38 games this season for Single-A Clearwater, batting .278 (27/97) with three doubles, one triple, two home runs, 10 RBI and a .746 OPS. He was ranked by Baseball America in the in-season ratings as the Phillies #19 prospect. The native of Arroyo, Puerto Rico was selected by Philadelphia in the 12th round of the 2019 Draft.

Syndergaard, 29, has made 15 starts for the Angels this season, going 5-8 with a 3.83 ERA (80 IP - 34 ER) and 64 strikeouts after signing a one-year contract with the Angels on Nov. 16, 2021.
