Full name is Zachary Thomas Granite… in three seasons at Seton Hall, owned a career .299 (189-for-633) with 23 doubles, 10 triples, 53RBI and 68SB in 156 games… as a freshman in 2011, helped guide the Pirates to their first BIG EAST Championship in 10 years and an NCAA Regional appearance games… was named to the 2013 All-Big East First Team, 2013 Rawlings/ABCA All-East Region Second Team and 2012 All-Big East Third Team… went back to Seton Hall in winter of 2016-17 to earn degree in Criminal Justice… attended Tottenville High School in Staten Island.
2019
Spent the entire season with Triple-A Nashville and hit .290 (146-for-504) with 66R, 18 doubles, 8 triples, 3HR, 37RBI, 31BB and 25SB… was tied for fourth in the PCL in triples, ranked sixth in hits and seventh in stolen bases… was designated for assignment by the Twins on 2/26… was acquired by the Texas Rangers from the Twins in exchange for RHP Xavier Moore and cash considerations on 3/3.
2018
Appeared in 68 games for Triple-A Rochester, batting .211 (50-for-237) with 28R, 8 doubles, 4RBI, 22BB and 9SB… played in eight games for the Red Wings before being placed on the 7-day disabled list with a right shoulder contusion on 4/21 (retroactive to 4/19), an injury he originally suffered diving for a ball in spring training… was reinstated on 5/10 and was placed back on the 7-day disabled list 7/18 with the same right shoulder contusion… missed the remainder of the season.
2017
Was invite to Twins spring training (his first) before being optioned to Triple-A Rochester on March 18...Missed roughly a month at the start of the season with a left oblique strain, then traveled to Advanced-A Ft. Myers for a five-game rehab stint...Named Twins minor league Player of the Week June 17, hitting .526 (10-for-19) with five doubles, three RBI and six walks and five games...Earned International League Player of the Month honors in June, batting .470 with 55 hits, 16 extra-base hits, 23 runs, 78 total bases and a 1.193 OPS while reaching base safely in all 29 games he played; also named Twins minor league Player of the Month for June...Recalled on July 8 by the Twins and made his major league debut on the same day; recorded first major league hit on July 14 at Houston with a double off Charlie Morton...Optioned back to Rochester August 5; rejoined the major league club August 24...Named International League Postseason All-Star, becoming the first Red Wings outfielder to earn the honor since Jason Kubel in 2004...Hit first major league home run September 23 at Detroit off Blaine Hardy after pinch-running earlier in the eighth inning, becoming the first player in Twins history to pinch-run and homer in the same inning and the first in baseball since Boston's Darren Lewis in 2001...Named outfielder on the Twins Organizational All-Star team by MiLB.com.
