Zachary D. McClellan...played at Indiana University in Bloomington...native of Toledo, he graduated from St. Francis de Soles High School in 1997...signed by Royals scout Jason Bryans.
2007
Missed the majority of the season with a shoulder injury, but did see his first Major League action, going 1-0 with a 5.79 ERA (14.0 ip, 9 er) in 12 relief appearances for Colorado...had 13 strikeouts in 14.0 innings...was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs on April 16, after appearing in just three games for the Sky Sox, and made his Major League debut that night vs. San Francisco...appeared in the eighth inning and allowed one run on two hits in Colorado's 8-0 defeat...gave up three earned runs over his first 11.0 innings pitched (2.45 ERA) but then allowed six earned runs in 3.0 innings, covering his final three games for Colorado...placed on the 15-day DL on May 14-remainder of the season with right shoulder inflammation.

Spent second straight season in bullpen for Colorado Springs, going 4-3, 4.18 (64.2 ip, 30 er) in career-high 54 appearances...led staff in appearances, T3rd-most in PCL...allowed just three home runs all season after combined 27 long balls the previous two years...opponents batted .297 (77-for-259)...went 3-1, 1.83 (39.1 ip, 8 er) on the road, but 1-2, 7.82 (25.1 ip, 22 er) at home...logged 2.0 or more innings on 10 occasions...was unscored upon in 36 of 54 games and appeared mostly in the late innings...blanked the opposition in 16 of 18 outings from May 4-June 18...tossed season-high 3.0 innings on July 29 at Memphis...over final 34 outings beginning May 25, compiled a 3.62 ERA (37.1 ip, 15 er)...allowed just one home run over his first 42 games and 51.2 innings through the end of August despite playing home games at altitude...made 10 appearances for Mexicali in Mexican Winter League, posting 2.70 ERA (10.0 ip, 3 er).

Made his Triple-A debut, going 3-3, 5.96 (71.0 ip, 47 er) in 44 games/two starts while spending entire season with Colorado Springs...posted 3-2 record with a 5.51 ERA (65.1 ip, 40 er) in 42 relief appearances...was unscored upon in 24 of those 42 outings...earned relief victory on July 6 vs. Sacramento after entering game in fourth inning in place of starter Wilton Chavez...McClellan tossed 3.0 scoreless frames and allowed just one hit in 17-7 win...allowed four earned runs in 11.0 innings (3.27 ERA) over his last nine appearances...made two spot starts, allowing seven runs in 5.2 innings.
2004
After being acquired by the Rockies in an early April trade with Kansas City, was assigned to Double-A Tulsa and went 4-7, 4.15 (138.2 ip, 64 er) in 26 games/23 starts...posted career-high 111 strikeouts, ranking second on staff and fourth in Rox organization...his 4.15 ERA ranked 11th among league qualifiers and fifth in organization...went 1-0, 5.00 in 11 games/three starts for Mesa Solar Sox in Arizona Fall League.
2003
Went 8-8, 2.84 (133.0 ip, 42 er) in 30 games/23 starts for Wilmington of the Carolina League, his second straight year with that club...ranked fourth in the CL in ERA...opponents batted just .212 (101-for-476), lowest in the league against a starter, as he also led league by averaging just 9.64 runners per nine innings...had 5th-lowest walks per nine innings average (2.31)...was teammates with league pitcher of the year Zack Greinke...pitched complete game shutout on Aug. 26 at Myrtle Beach.
2002
Went 7-9, 4.03 (145.1 ip, 65 er) in 28 games/27 starts for Wilmington...the Blue Rocks had the best regular season record in the league, but lost to Lynchburg in the playoff semis...Brad Hawpe was league MVP...led team in starts and losses, establishing career highs for starts and innings.

Recorded 5-10 record with a 4.54 ERA (127.0 ip, 64 er) in 24 games/22 starts for Burlington of the Midwest League...went 5-10, 4.53 (119.1 ip, 60 er) as starter...allowed three ER or less in 15 of his 22 starts.
