In the fall of 2007, Percy built (with his own hands and money) a clubhouse for the baseball team
at his alma mater, University of California-Riverside. With the help of his family, he designed, assembled
and installed 34 solid oak lockers. Labor and materials were estimated at over $100,000.
Percy, a standout catcher at the school from 1987-90, is one of two players to have his number
retired there, along with former Padres pitcher Eric Show.
Earned the first save ever recorded at Tropicana Field on April. 26, 1998. He protected the Angels'
2-1 win over the Rays in the 11th game ever played there.
Troy would like to be a fireman when he retires, like his dad.
Troy enjoys building cars. A few years ago he finished building a '56 Ford pickup, which he takes
out for a drive every once in a while. He's also built a '67 Camaro and '66 Chevelle for himself. Troy
has built cars for Washington's Dmitri Young ('56 Chevy Nomad), Baltimore's Jamie Walker ('82
"Smokey & the Bandit" replica Trans Am) and the Atlanta Braves' Casey Kotchman ('67 GT 500
Mustang). On average it takes him from one to two years to build a car.
