Todd joined the Cubs in December 2003...the infielder has spent parts of nine years in the majors with Minnesota, Colorado, Cincinnati, Boston and the Cubs...went to the postseason for the first time during his career in 2003, hitting five homers in 12 playoff games - the most ever for a Boston player in one postseason...has recorded at least 35 doubles in five different seasons, as he has 236 career two-baggers...has grounded into just 84 double plays...is a career .303 batter during day games...his career honors include winning an American League Player of the Week Award in 1998...is a 1991 graduate of Airline High School in Bossier City, LA, where he was named the Louisiana high school baseball player of the year following his senior year...also was an all-state player in soccer...attended Louisiana State University, earning a degree in general business administration...was a two-time all-Southeastern Conference selection and two-time all-American...was honored as the most outstanding player in the College World Series his sophomore year after leading his team to the championship...that season, he had an SEC-record 33-game hitting streak and led the conference in homers and RBI...Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball selected him as the 1992 freshman of the year when he became the first player at LSU to bat .400...prior to being chosen by Minnesota as the 8th overall selection in the 1994 draft, Baseball America named him the best collegiate second baseman in the modern era...played for Team USA in 1993.

Was signed by the A's as a free agent to a minor league contract on March 30 after he was released by San Diego on March 26 and made the A's Opening Day roster...hit .271 with no home runs and four RBI in 18 games, including nine starts at first base, before he was designated for assignment on May 12...was released on May 17 and did not play again in 2007...the A's were his seventh team in 12 Major League seasons and he batted .289 with 107 home runs and 545 RBI in 1288 career games...hit .313 (10 for 32) against right-handed pitching in 2007 and .188 (3 for 16) against lefthanders... was 2 for 6 (.333) with three RBI as a pinch hitter...tied Shannon Stewart for the team lead in pinch RBI and tied Stewart and Marco Scutaro for the lead in pinch hits...batted .348 (8 for 23) with three of his four RBI in the seventh inning or later...hit .267 with three doubles and one RBI in 16 spring training games with the A's and San Diego, including .600 (3 for 5) in two games with the A's...had the game tying pinch hit single in the bottom of the ninth inning of the A's 2-1 win on April 10 against Chicago...started six consecutive games at first base from April 11 to 18 and put together a season best five-game hitting streak over the last five starts of that stretch (6 for 23, .261)...made his only start of the season at designated hitter on April 21 at Texas and was 0 for 4...made his second career appearance in the outfield on April 27 when he played left field...the other was on August 24, 2004 while playing for the Cubs, also in left field...went 2 for 3 in his final game on May 10 at Kansas City.
2006
He began 2006 with the Cubs, where he hit .277 (88-for-318) with six homers, 16 doubles, and 40 RBIs. Walker was traded to the Padres on July 31 for Minor League pitcher Jose Ceda. With San Diego, he played in 44 games, hitting .282 (35-for-124) with three home runs, six doubles and 13 RBIs.
2005
Todd batted .305 with 25 doubles, 12 home runs and 40 RBI - missed nearly two months of the season after sustaining a knee injury...the second baseman saw action in 110 games - and surpassed the .300 mark for the first time since 2000, when he hit .316 in 57 games for Colorado...made his seventh career Opening Day start April 4, going 3-for-4 with an RBI...was placed on the disabled list April 11 with a moderate to severe medial collateral ligament sprain to his left knee...sustained the injury in the game on April 10 when he collided with Milwaukee's Carlos Lee at second base while attempting to turn a double play...had a rehab stint in Iowa (AAA), where he hit .216 (8-37) with 3 RBI and 3 runs in nine games...was reinstated to the active list May 25...hit his first homer of the year on May 29 off Colorado's Jose Acevedo...the solo shot was his first career pinchhomer...had a 12-game hitting streak from July 5-19...batted .373 (19-51) with 4 doubles, 4 homers and 9 RBI...also had a 10-game hitting streak from August 8-20, batting .375 (15-40) with 2 homers and 3 RBI...credited with 7 game-winning RBI and 2 game-tying RBI for the season...hit a 10th-inning, bases-loaded, walkoff single September 13 against Cincinnati...the one-out single off David Weathers gave the Cubs a 4-3 win...had the game-winning hit September 30 at Houston, a pinch-hit single in the ninth inning...it was his first appearance since leaving the game September 23 with a strained right knee.
2004
Todd batted .274 with 15 homers and 50 RBI in his first season with the Cubs...appeared in 89 games at second base (88 starts), 5 games at first base and 1 game in left field...also appeared in 36 games as a pinch hitter, notching 6 hits and drawing 4 walks...hit .323 in the first month of the season, going 20-for-62 with 7 doubles, 2 homers and 10 RBI...had a .468 slugging percentage, ranking third among National League second basemen with a minimum of 350 plate appearances...hit .312 with runners on base - and only grounded into 2 double plays...batted a team-high .318 with runners in scoring position and two outs...had a season-best 8-game hitting streak June 9-16, going 16-for-37 (.432)...in 60 games batting out of the leadoff spot, he hit .294 with a .370 on-base percentage...posted his eighth career 4-RBI game September 27 in a 12-5 Cub win over Cincinnati...hit a 2-run homer off John Riedling and added a pair of RBI-singles, going 3-for-4 on the day...had one of his best games of the season June 14 at Houston, recording his fifth career 2-homer game June 14 at Houston in a 7-2 Cub victory...tagged Roger Clemens and Chad Harville for solo homers in the 6th and 9th frames (respectively)...was a double shy of the cycle as he also tripled - recording a career-tying four-hit game...scored a career-high four runs...singled off Matt Morris June 9 vs. St. Louis for his 1,000th career hit...hit his first homer in a Cub uniform April 20, going deep off Pittsburgh's Ryan Vogelsong...made his Cub debut as a pinch hitter on Opening Day...made his first start in the final game of the opening series in Cincinnati...was 1-for-3 with a double in his first start at second base.

Todd returned to the American League and saw postseason action for the first time in his career as Boston advanced to the A.L. Championship Series ... in his only season with the Red Sox, he batted .283 with 38 doubles, 13 homers and a career-high 85 RBI in 144 games.
