Veteran catcher inked minor league deal with Giants Feb. 10, and became 1st catcher to make club as non-roster invitee since Benito Santiago in 2001...served as SF's backup catcher, batting .289 in 61 games...excelled in starting role, batting .326 (44-for-135) with 11 2Bs, 2 HRs and 16 RBI in his 37 opening assignments...in fact, had 13 multi-hit efforts as starter...hit at .352 clip (32-for-91) in 31 games at AT&T Park...ended year on strong note, going 13-for-41 (.317) with 2 HRs over his last 16 contests...made 4 appearances at 1st base, after having not played position since 2003 season with Texas...was originally signed as free agent by San Diego Jan. 5, however after Padres inked C Mike Piazza in late January, was granted release Feb. 3.

2005

Missed over 2 months of season due to hamstring injury, then played sparingly as Rockies' backup catcher after mid-Aug. return...batted .254 with 7 HRs and 23 RBI in just 38 games (32 starts)...was excellent with RISP, batting .351 (13-for-37) in such situations...also hit at .294 clip (15-for-51) against left-handed pitching...batted .300 (21-for-70) with 3 home runs and 14 RBI through May 20, hitting safely in 16 of his first 18 contests...had hit in each of his first 8 games through the end of April, matching longest hitting streak of career...hit 3-run HR April 8 at San Francisco, capping 8-run 7th inning...also singled in that frame, matching club record for hits in one inning (20th time)...suffered strained right hamstring June 5 vs. Cincinnati, and was placed on DL June 6...ad a pair of rehab assignments with Colorado Springs...played 3 games during first stint June 19-21, but was forced from game on June 21 at Salt Lake with a cramp in area of his injured hamstring...continued to rest hamstring until 2nd rehab assignment Aug. 6-15...was reinstated from DL Aug. 17, but was just 5-for-28 (.179) in 12 games after returning.

Logged entire season in Colorado, starting 48 games behind plate as Rox' backup catcher...enjoyed excellent year at plate, batting .282 with 14 2Bs, 10 HRs and 35 RBI in 75 total contests...marked 3rd straight season with 10 clouts...belted pair of HRs July 16 vs. SF for 3rd career multi-HR game...hammered 2nd career pinch-hit roundtripper Aug. 6 vs. Cubs, 1st pinch-clout since Aug. 11, 1999...missed 20 games due to strained left hamstring, spending Aug. 10-Sept. 1 on DL.

2003

Was Texas' starting catcher in 49 games, while logging pair of starts as club's designated hitter...legged out 1st career triple May 21 at Tampa Bay, in his 315th ML game and 925th at-bat...produced 2nd career multi-HR contest Aug. 1 vs. Cleveland.

2002

Went to Spring Training with Yankees, was released March 26 and signed with Dodgers April 2...opened year at triple-A Las Vegas, where he was leading Pacific Coast League in RBI (41), total bases (89) and slugging (.712) when he was granted release May 15...signed ML contract with Texas May 16...made starts at catcher (11), 1st base (10), designated hitter (3) and left field (1) in 2 stints with Rangers...had 10 HRs in 112 big league at-bats, avg. of 1 every 11.2 ABs...in fact, ranked as 3rd-best ratio among all AL players with 100 or more ABs, trailing only Jim Thome (1 every 9.2 ABs) and Alex Rodriguez (1 per 10.9 ABs)...had 5 straight hits leave ballpark June 20-Sept. 4...was optioned to triple-A Oklahoma July 11, then had contract purchased Aug. 29...belted walk-off HR Sept. 11 vs. Seattle, taking Arthur Rhodes deep to give Texas 4-3 victory.

2001

Signed with Yankees April 5 after being released by Toronto...began season at triple-A Columbus before having contract purchased by New York June 5...started 25 games at catcher and 1 as DH...homered in 1st game with Yankees, June 6 vs. Baltimore...played in 1 game in both ALCS and World Series...went 1-for-2 in Fall Classic, with 2B off Randy Johnson in Game 6.

2000

Was released by Anaheim in Spring Training and signed by Toronto on April 10...after stint with triple-A Syracuse, was recalled to big leagues May 19...started 20 games at DH for Blue Jays...landed on DL June 7-23 with strained right knee.

1999

Set career bests in nearly all offensive categories with Anaheim, including hits (78), 2Bs (20), HRs (14) and RBI (42)...started at catcher, DH and right field...threw out 5-of-12 (41.7%) of attempted basestealers...homered in 3 straight games April 15-17...suspended by league for 3 games May 13-16, following ejection for charging mound April 18 vs. Seattle...optioned to triple-A Edmonton July 7, but was recalled for remainder of season July 30...belted pinch-HR Aug. 11 vs. Cleveland, 1st pinch-clout by Angel since 1996.

1998

Opened year on DL, while continuing to rehab from Oct. 28, 1997 right shoulder surgery...appeared in 12 games at single-A Lake Elsinore and 30 at triple-A Vancouver on rehab assignments...was activated by Anaheim Aug. 7...started 11 games in left field and 3 at 1st base for Angels.

1997

Was on Angels' Opening Day roster, but was optioned to Vancouver April 15...hit club-record 24 HRs in just 64 games for Canadians...named Howe SportsData Minor League Player of Month and PCL Player of Month in May...was voted to play in Triple-A All-Star Game, but was recalled by Anaheim July 3...batted .304 in 30 ML games for Angels...set career highs by going 4-for-5 with 3 runs scored, 2 2Bs and 6 RBI July 31 vs. White Sox...missed remainder of season after fracturing right wrist when hit by foul tip during opener of Aug. 20 doubleheader vs. Yankees.

1996

Started year at Vancouver, missing 42 games April 10-May 25 after having hamate bone removed from left wrist...recalled by Angels July 29...made ML debut July 30 at Detroit, producing RBI-single off Richie Lewis for 1st career hit...belted 1st HR in 1st start at catcher, Aug. 1 off Detroit's Brian Williams.

1995

Named Baseball Weekly's Minor League Player of Year, as he became 1st minor leaguer since 1985 with 40 HRs...combined for exactly 40 clouts with double-A Midland and Vancouver...started at Midland, and earned Topps' Minor League Player of Month honors...was selected to Texas League All-Star Team, but was promoted to Vancouver July 13...had contract purchased by Angels Sept. 30, but did not appear in game...played for Tempe in Arizona Fall League.

1994

Was selected California League MVP following dominating campaign for Lake Elsinore...led league in 2Bs (39), HRs (35), RBI (124), total bases (306), extra base hits (76), slugging pct. (.584) and intentional walks (12)...4-time Player of Week was DH on circuit's All-Star Team...tied league record with 3-HR game Aug. 20 at Bakersfield.

1993

Northwest League MVP topped circuit in HRs (15) and RBI (71) in 76 games for short-season Boise.
