Graduated from Langham Creek (Texas) High School...drafted in 2007 out of Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas...was Southland Conference Player of the Year and All-Conference 1st baseman in 2007...also attended Eastfield College and San Jacinto College...resides in Houston, Texas.
2011
Played in only 37 games, missing 107 days due to two injuries; one at Springfield (AA) and then Memphis (AAA)...Started 20 games at first base, 10 at catcher, five as designated hitter and one in left field...Suffered a left knee strain following game on 4/14 vs. Frisco, and was on 7-day DL until 5/25...Hit 14 home runs in 37 games. The 14 home runs ranked T10th among Cardinals minor leaguers...Averaged a home run every 10.5 at-bats (14 HR/148 AB)...Batted .282 in 31 games at Springfield, smacking 11 home runs (T5th on team), a home run in every 11.9 AB...Was called up to Memphis on 6/25 and played in six games before a fracture to his left foot ended his season...Hit three home runs in 17 at-bats in Memphis inclduing his first career grand slam vs. Oklahoma City (7/1) off Andy Van Hekken...Hit safely in 24 of 31 games at Springfield with 12 multi-hit games...Recorded two home runs in a game twice; at Arkansas (6/15) and again vs. Arkansas eight days later (6/23)...Threw out 6-of-11 (54.5%) attempted base stealers.

Began the season at Springfield (AA) before being purchased by St. Louis on 8/11. Became the first Cardinals player to make the jump from Double-A since RHP Matt Duff in 2002. ... Made his ML debut on 8/15 and homered in his second at-bat off Marcos Mateo (CHI) to ignite a five-run 9th inning. Became the first Cardinals player to hit a HR in his first ML game since Hector Luna in 2004. ... Was leading the TL in homers (22) and RBI (86) at the time of his purchase and finished the season T4th in HR, 3rd in RBI and 2nd in SLG (.543). ... Caught four innings in his only ML game (8/15) and registered a 2.25 catchers ERA. Was optioned to Memphis (AAA) on 8/18 and started eight games behind the plate. ... Combined to hit .271 with a total of 23 HR and 91 RBI in 102 minor league games between Springfield and Memphis. ... Never went more than two games without a hit in 93 games at Springfield. Batted .538 with bases loaded and .409 with RISP and two outs. ... Finished in the Top 10 among all Cardinals' minor leaguers with 24 homers (1st), 92 RBI (1st), .529 slugging percentage (2nd), .874 on-base plus slugging percentage (4th) and 28 doubles (7th). ... Registered a season-high nine-game hit streak from 5/18-29. ... Made just five errors in 77 combined minor league games as a catcher (.992 FLD%). ... Played in 120 games at Springfield (AA) making 40 starts at catcher, 30 in the outfield and 25 at first base...Led squad with 19 home runs, 64 RBI, 131 hits, 218 total bases, six sac flies, six intentional walks and 464 at bats...Ranked in the Top 10 among Cardinals minor leaguers: 2nd in home runs (19), T8th in runs (62), T3rd in hits (131), T4th in doubles (26), 5th in RBI (64) and 5th in slugging (.470)...Cardinals' Minor League Player of the Month for April posting a .391 average (25-64) with 5 HR, 17 RBI and a .734 slug pct...Named Texas League Player-of-the-Week for 4/20-26 batting .571 (12-21) with four home runs and nine RBI...Selected to the Texas League All-Star Game and went 0-for-2 as a reserve catcher...Was a career-best 5-for-5 at MID (4/21) the day after hitting two home runs in a 3-for-4 game (4/20 at MID)...Hit 14 of his 19 home runs vs. RHP and batted .303 (43-142) vs. LHP.
2008
Began his second year at High-A Palm Beach...hit .341 in April to garner a promotion to Double-A Springfield on 5/10...hit .300 in 21 games with Springfield, including a season-high four hits at Arkansas on 5/14...most of his playing time with Springfield came at first base (12 games)...made nine outfield apps. and four behind the plate...was off to a good start in June, batting .310 with three home runs in eight games before being hit by a pitch causing a fracture to the fourth finger on his left hand (pinkie) ...was placed on the D.L. on 6/11...played four games on a rehab assignment with the GCL Cardinals (8/12-16)...belted a careerhigh three home runs 8/13 at GCL Marlins, two solo and a tworun HR...returned to Palm Beach the last half of August to finish out the season...spent 18 games at first, eight in the outfield, five catching and one at third with Palm Beach...committed all five of his errors at first.
2007
Began his pro career at short-season Batavia but after just 10 games with a .436 batting average was quickly promoted to Quad Cities (low-A)...split his time between three positions, playing 27 games at first, 26 in the outfield and 13 as a catcher for QC...was named the Midwest League Player of the Week for 7/23-29 after five straight multi-hit games and four consecutive multi-RBI games...for the week he led the league with a .467 average, 16 RBI and 14 hits.
