Stephen Ridings graduated from St. Anthony's High School (NY) before attending Haverford College (PA), where he earned Second Team All. Centennial Conference honors in 2016.Became the first player in Haverford College history to reach the majors...Majored in chemistry....Was born and raised on Long Island, attending St. Anthony's HS in Melville....Worked as a substitute teacher at Palm Beach Maritime Academy in Lantana, Florida from October 2020-March 2021....Played basketball and volleyball in high school in addition to baseball.

Saw his first Major League action, posting a 1.80 ERA (5.0IP, 4H, 2R/1ER, 2BB, 7K) in five relief appearances in his only stint with the Yankees (8/3-16)…Did not allow a run in four of his five appearances…struck out 7-of-20 BF (35.0%)…all seven strikeouts were swinging...Made his Major League debut on 8/3 vs. Baltimore, tossing a scoreless seventh inning in relief (1H, 3K)…struck out his first batter faced, DJ Stewart, for his first Major League strikeout…was signed to a Major League contract as a replacement player and selected to the 26-man roster from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre prior to the game…made his debut along with starting pitcher Luis Gil and reliever Brody Koerner…according to Elias, it marked the first time the Yankees had at least three players make their Major League debut in same game since 9/18/08 vs. Chicago-AL (Francisco Cervelli, Juan Miranda, Humberto Sanchez)…Elias also noted that it was the second time in franchise history the Yankees had three pitchers make their big league debut in the same game (also 9/26/50 vs. Washington-AL: Lew Burdette, Dave Madison, Ernie Nevel)…was the second time in 2021 the Yankees had multiple players make their Major League debut (Trey Amburgey and Hoy Park on 7/16 vs. Boston)…prior to 2021, the last time the Yankees had multiple players make their Major League debut in the same game was 8/13/16 vs. Tampa Bay when Aaron Judge and Tyler Austin made their Major League debuts...Was returned as a replacement player to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on 8/16...Combined with Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to go 5-0 with three saves and a 1.24 ERA (29.0IP, 16H, 8R/4ER, 4BB, 42K, 2HR) in 22 relief appearances...Began the season with Somerset, going 4-0 with two saves and a 0.47 ERA (19.0IP, 8H, 2R/1ER, 2BB, 30K, 0HR) in 1...relief appearances...Was promoted to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on 7/6 and went 1-0 with one save and a 2.70 ERA (10.0IP, 8H, 6R/3ER, 2BB, 12K, 2HR) in eight relief appearances…on 7/21 vs. Rochester with Scranton/WB, tossed a hitless ninth inning, combining with RHP Luis Gil (6.0IP, 2BB, 9K) and RHP Reggie McClain (2.0IP, 2K) to throw a no-hitter...Following the season, was tabbed by Baseball America as having the “Best Fastball” in the Yankees organization...Was added to the Yankees’ 40-man roster on 11/19.

Did not play due to the COVID-19 pandemic…was released by the Royals on 11/4/20.

Spent the season with Rookie-level Idaho Falls, going 4-3 with a 5.91 ERA (56.1IP, 48H, 39R/37ER, 29BB, 88K, 6HR) in 13 games (11 starts)…recorded a career-high 12K over 7.0IP (3H, 3ER, 1BB, 2HR, 1WP) on 8/29 vs. Great Falls…led the Pioneer League in strikeouts and his 14.1K/9.0IP (88K/56.1IP) were the most among Royals farmhands (min. 50.0IP).

Played the entire season with Single-A Eugene and went 3-3 with a 4.15 ERA (34.2IP, 29H, 19R/16ER, 15BB, 44K, 4HR) in 22 relief appearances.

Made his professional debut with the AZL Cubs.
