The shortstop made a seemingly easy transition to the big leagues, as he hit .314 in his rookie campaign. Drew added 23 RBIs, 13 doubles, seven triples and five home runs. Defensively, he was better than advertised, committing five errors on the season with a .978 fielding percentage. He was hampered by hand and groin injuries toward the end of the season.
2005
The 2004 first-round pick was signed just minutes before the deadline prior to the 2005 First-Year Player Draft. ... Began professional career at Class A Lancaster where he dominated for a .389 average with 10 homers and 39 RBIs. ... When Double-A shortstop Jerry Gil was injured, Drew was promoted to Double-A Tennessee on Aug. 1 where he remained till the end of the year. ...
