2009

In 13 outings with Albuquerque of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League, went 3-4 with 3.07 ERA...posted .206 batting average against when facing left-handed batters...placed on voluntarily retired list, June 18.

2008

Returned to majors with SDP via relief appearance on May 8 at ATL, marking first big league action since April 5, 2006... notched 100th career victory on May 13 at CHI...missed 82 games with fractured left thumb, suffered when falling on a stairway between visitors' dugout and clubhouse on May 30 at SFG.

2007

Missed majority of season recovering from Tommy John (ligament-replacement) surgery...went 0-2 with 4.45 ERA in 11 rehab games/8 starts at 3 minor-league levels.

2006

He signed as a free agent with San Diego on Jan. 10. He made his only 2006 start on April 5, allowing three runs over six innings vs. San Francisco. On April 7, he went on the disabled list with a strained left elbow, and he missed the rest of the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery on June 7. He was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on Aug. 25.

2005

Went 7-8 with a 4.80 ERA (66 ER/123.2 IP) and 63 strikeouts in 21 starts for the Diamondbacks... the 21 starts marked his fewest since 1996...finished the season with a 99-89 career record...Recorded a season-best eight strikeouts over 6.0 innings against the Washington Nationals on May 10...during May 27 outing against Los Angeles, recorded his first career stolen base in the second inning...it was the fourth stolen base by an Arizona pitcher and first since Brian Anderson on June 26, 1999 vs. St. Louis...went 2-1 with a 2.79 ERA during four consecutive Interleague starts, June 7-24, facing Minnesota, Chicago, Cleveland and Detroit...during his June 7 start versus the Twins, was struck on the left thumb off the bat of pinch hitter Glenn Williams...Estes left with a 5-3 lead and the bases loaded but received a no-decision when a base hit after his departure tied the game...showed no ill effects of the thumb injury as he fired back-to-back complete games for the first time in his career, working 9.0 innings in an 8-1 win over the White Sox on June 13 in Chicago, then tossing 8.0 frames in a 3-2 loss to the Tribe in Cleveland...marked the fi rst time Estes had gone the distance more than once in a season since posting four complete games for the Giants in 2000...it was also the first time a Diamondback fired consecutive complete games since Curt Schilling tossed back-to-back shutouts on May 9 and May 14, 2003...returned from a two-month stint on the disabled list on September 9 at Coors Field, delivering a 7-1 win for his 99th career triumph...worked 6.0 shutout innings, allowing five hits for his first win since defeating the Tigers at home on June 24...Limited to 21 starts after succumbing to a stress reaction in his left ankle during a July 5 start against St. Louis... fi rst felt soreness in his left foot before his June 30 outing against San Francisco, but only knew something more serious was developing after he was unable to perform his normal running routine before the July 5 start against St. Louis...in that game, snapped an uncharacteristic 0-for-21 at the plate with a third-inning triple...while running the bases, aggravated an injury in the weight-bearing navicular bone of his left foot...a CT scan later revealed a stress reaction in the ankle, sidelining him from July 6-September 8...spent nearly a month wearing a boot to allow the injury to heal, then began a throwing program that ended with a pair of rehab starts with Triple-A Tucson, totaling a 1.64 ERA in 11.0 innings.

2004

The first non-roster pitcher to ever start for the Rockies on Opening Day, Shawn led the staff with 15 wins, establishing a club record for a lefthander, while ranking second among National League southpaws, trailing only Randy Johnson (16)...it was the fourth highest win total in Rockies history and tied the second best total in his career, behind only a 19-5 campaign in 1997...he led the team with a career-high 34 starts, tied for fifth in the N.L., the most by a Rockie since Pedro Astacio in 1999...he also led the staff with 202.0 innings, one shy of his career best from '99...overall, Shawn was 15-8 for a .652 winning percentage, 12th highest in the circuit but second among lefthanders behind only Eric Milton (.700, 14-6)... Shawn led the league and set a club record by inducing 33 groundball doubleplays, third best in the majors behind only Mark Mulder (37) and Sidney Ponson (36)...Shawn led the majors in GDP per nine innings at 1.51...he allowed the most runs (133) and earned runs (131) in the NL, third most walks (105), seventh most hits (223) and eighth most home runs (30)...61 of his 133 runs allowed came in the first or second inning (46%), including 33 in the opening frame (25%)...he worked at least 6.0 innings in all 15 of his victories, posting a 2.93 ERA (33 earned runs in 101.1 innings)...Estes was 8-2 with a 6.22 ERA and 1 complete game in 15 starts at Coors Field, 7-6 with a 5.53 ERA in 19 road outings...he became only the third pitcher in Colorado history to win at least 7 games both at home and on the road, joining Kevin Ritz in 1996 and Jason Jennings in 2002...he tied for second in the NL with 5 pickoffs, one behind Milwaukee's Chris Capuano...Estes went 8-1 with a 3.73 ERA in 16 starts vs. the NL West (43 earned runs in 103.2 innings)...at the plate, Shawn set a career-high with 17 hits, 3 more than in 2000...the 17 hits tied for third among all pitchers while he led all hurlers with 13 runs scored...after a stellar spring, Estes earned Colorado's Opening Day nod on April 6 at Bank One Ballpark, limiting the D'Backs to just 2 hits and a run over 7.0 innings to lead the Rockies to a 6-2 victory over Randy Johnson...it was Shawn's second career Opening Day start (1998)...he hurled the first-ever rain-shortened complete game victory in team history with a 7-1 win over the Dodgers in 6 innings on April 22, allowing 1 run on 2 hits in 93 pitches when the rains came...Shawn stretched his record to 6-2 with a win at Cincinnati on May 18, matching his best start to a season (also 6-2 in 1997)...Estes won 5 consecutive decisions from July 16-Aug. 12, his longest winning streak since May 8-June 21, 2001 and longest by a Rockie since Jennings won 6 straight in 2002...he posted a 7-1 record in 11 starts from June 18-August 12 and lost just once over a stretch of 15 starts from May 28-August 12...he earned his 10th win on July 21 at Los Angeles, giving him double digits in victories for the first time since 2000...suffered a 3-2 setback to Randy Johnson on September 15 at Bank One, Estes' only loss to a divisional opponent in 2004...he got even a week later, defeating Johnson and the D'Backs, 4-2 on September 22 at Coors, setting a franchise record for wins by a lefthander with 15, breaking Mike Hampton's mark of 14 in 2001...with his record at 15-7, Estes had 2 more starts to tie the overall franchise record of 17 wins but came up short...was in line for the win on September 27 at Los Angeles as he departed with a 7-5 lead after striking out a season-high 9 batters over 7.0 innings, but the Dodgers rallied to win 8-7...lost his final start 9-3 at Houston on October 2, allowing a career-high tying 4 home runs.

2003

Estes took the mound in 29 games for the Chicago Cubs in 2003, compiling an 8-11 record with a 5.73 ERA...struckout 100-plus batters (103) and made at least 25 starts (28) for the seventh consecutive year...induced 27 GDP's, fourth most in the majors...posted a 1.80 groundball/flyball ratio (247/137)...went 4-0 with a 3.06 ERA over a five-start span May 2-24, becoming the first left-handed starter to win four consecutive decisions for the Cubs since Terry Mulholland won six straight April 28-May 23, 1997...earned career victory No. 75 on June 10 at Baltimore, pitching 7.0-scoreless frames...fanned career batter No. 1,000 on Sept. 4 vs. St. Louis...after 216 career starts, Shawn made his first major league relief appearance on Sept. 19 at Pittsburgh (.2 ip, 1 h, 1 er)...in his final start of the year, Sept. 24 at Cincinnati, Estes hurled a 4-hit shutout in an 8-0 victory over the Reds...it was his eighth career shutout and 11th complete game...Was not on the Cubs' postseason roster.

Shawn split the campaign between the New York Mets and Cincinnati, combining to go 5-12 with a 5.10 ERA in 29 starts ... worked at least 6.0 innings in 14 outings and pitched at least 7.0 innings nine times ... joined the Mets prior to the season, then was dealt to the Reds as part of a five-player trade on August 15 ... was 4-9 with a 4.55 ERA in his 23 starts for the Mets and 1-3 with a 7.71 ERA in 6 starts for the Reds ... despite going 3-5 in his 16 combined starts at Shea Stadium and Cinergy Field, he recorded a 3.94 ERA in his home outings (43 ER/98.1 IP) ... on April 26 vs. Milwaukee at Shea Stadium, he pitched a 1-0 complete-game 1-hitter -- taking a perfect game into the 7th inning ... on June 15 vs. the Yankees, he tied a career high by striking out 11 batters ... also hit a 2-run homer off Roger Clemens in the 8-0 victory, becoming the third Mets pitcher to hit a homer and strike out at least 10 batters in the same contest ... it was his 10th double-digit strikeout game ... the home run was the third of his major league career ... picked up his only victory with the Reds September 2 at St. Louis (5-3).

Shawn went 9-8 with a 4.02 ERA in his final season with San Francisco ... allowed 3 or fewer runs in 19 of his 27 starts and limited left-handed batters to a .227 average and just 2 homers ... went 7-2 with a 2.90 ERA during the season's first three months -- including a 5-game winning streak May 8-June 21 ... was on the disabled list May 9-May 24 with left shoulder tendinitis and August 23-September 7 with a sprained left ankle.

2000

Was 15-6 with a 4.26 ERA in 30 starts ... went the distance 4 times, tossing a pair of shutouts ... tied for 10th in the National League in victories ... induced opposing batters to ground into a big league-high 40 double plays ... opened the year on the disabled list with left shoulder tendinitis ... returned to the active list April 17 ... threw 2 shutouts over a 4-start span in May, earning a 6-0 victory over Colorado May 6 and an 18-0 win vs. Montreal May 24 ... in the May 24 affair, he hit a grand slam off Expos right-hander Mike Johnson ... had a 7-game winning streak June 16-August 17 ... in 12 outings following a Giants loss, he went 7-3 with 3 complete games and a 3.83 ERA.
