Full name RYAN ADAMS SPILBORGHS (SPILL-borgs)...He and his wife, Stacey, have a daughter, Kierra Esperanza and son, Tatum...Graduated from Santa Barbara High School, batting school-record .519 with 7 home runs his senior year...Also compiled school records with a .472 career average and 131 career hits...Named league MVP in 1997...Posted 2.84 ERA with 56 strikeouts as a senior...Also played football in high school...A two-time all-Big West selection, Ryan helped UC-Santa Barbara earn an NCAA tournament berth as a sophomore in 2001...Hit .338 (74-for-219) his junior year with 14 HR and 59 RBI, starting all 55 games...At one point that year, compiled a 35-game hit streak at .406 (56-for-138), breaking the old Gaucho record of 22 games set by Jeff Antoon in 1991...Majored in psychology.

Not called to the big leagues until May 19, Spilborghs was one of club's key offensive components for a 2 1/2-month span from late May through early August...batted .299 with 11 home runs and 51 RBI in 97 games for Colorado...despite the late start, still ranked aixth on the team in both home runs and RBI, as his arrival coincided with a dramatic improvement in the club's play...was tied for the second-most RBI of any Major League player with less than 270 at-bats this season...reached these figures despite never starting on a regular basis...most consecutive starts all year came when he started six straight on a six-game road trip, June 8-14 at Baltimore and Boston...had a pair of 2-homer games, the first of his career...batted .307 (66-for-215) with 10 doubles, 10 home runs, and 39 RBI in his 57 starts for the Rockies this season... established career highs in nearly every category... had a .356 (31-for-87) average against left-handed pitchers, .271 (48-for-177) vs. right-handers...had 12 walks and just seven strikeouts against lefties...hit .330 with runners in scoring position...hit .380 (19-for-50) in 21 games vs. NL East clubs...hit .409 (9-for-22) against Milwaukee...had a .513 (20-for-39) average when putting the first pitch of an at-bat in play...batted .310 (9-for-29) with 11 RBI as a pinch-hitter...his 11 pinch RBI ranked fifth in the Majors...played all three outfield positions, seeing more time in center field than any other spot...began the year with Colorado Springs, batting .323 (40-for-124) with five home runs and 17 RBI in 34 games in the Pacific Coast League...batted .377 (20-for-53) with a .460 on-base percentage over 15 games with the Springs in May prior to his recall...over his first 58 games from May 20-Aug. 11, batted .338 (51-for-151) with 10 home runs, nine doubles, and 43 RBI...averaged an RBI every 3.51 at-bats over those 58 games, the best RBI ratio of any Major League player in that nearly three-month span...would hit just .176 (12-for-68) with two doubles, no HR, and two RBI over his next 26 games from Aug. 12-Sept. 15, dropping season average from .338 to .288...found his stroke at the end, batting .356 (16-for-45) over final 13 games beginning Sept. 16 to finish at .299...during series June 8-10 at Baltimore, started different outfield position in each game...had career game in series finale on June 10 at Camden Yards, going 3-for-5 with two home runs and six RBI, driving in all six Rockies runs...his six RBI matched most by any Rockie in a game all year, and it was his first career two- homer game...had nine total bases in that game, also matching single-game best by any Rockie in '07...homered four times in a span of 10 games (six starts) from June 28-July 14, 14 total RBI in that 10-game stretch...had 18 RBI in just 18 games in July, third-most by any Rockie that month...posted another two-homer game on Aug. 5 at Atlanta, first of three straight multi-hit games...went 8-for-13 (.615) with three HR, two doubles, and four RBI in that three game span Aug. 5-8.
2006
Had just two starts over last 15 games ... Was 6-for-his-last-12 at the plate. ... Homered 9/18 vs. SF, first extra base hit since he homered 8/17 vs. Arizona. ... His four runs scored on 9/18 matched Rox' season high. ... Had three RBI on 8/25 vs. SD matched career high. ... Hit .293 with RISP and is 9-for-his-last-27 (.333) in that category. ... Made three stints w/ Rox ... was also with club from 4/22-5/4 and 5/28-7/3 ... Ryan split most of the year between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Colorado Springs, but made his Major League debut during a brief stint with the Rockies in mid-July...combined to hit .34025 (164-for-482) in the Minors, the 10th-highest overall average among all full season minor leaguers as he was percentage points ahead of a pair of other players...his average was 3rd-highest among minor league outfielders...also had 46 doubles, matching the most ever by a Rockies minor league player...Jayson Nix is only other player in franchise history with that many doubles in a minor league season, posting 46 doubles in 2003...the 46 doubles was T4th-most among all minor leaguers, while his 101 runs scored ranked T13th in the minors all year...it was his first season above the Single-A level...compiled career highs in virtually every offensive category except home runs...played in just one game for the Rockies during his lone big league stint from July 15-18...was purchased from Colorado Springs on July 15 in the aftermath of Brad Hawpe being placed on the DL and Preston Wilson being traded to Washington...went 2-for-4 with an RBI and 2 singles in his only major league game to date on July 16 at Cincinnati, a start in right field...singled in the 6th inning off Todd Coffey for his first ML hit and also hit a single in the 8th off Jason Standridge...recorded 6 putouts in the field and added an outfield assist, doubling a runner off 2nd base to end the 8th inning...was optioned back to Triple-A for remainder of season on July 19...to date, is one of 8 players in Rockies franchise history to appear in one game...began the year with Tulsa, his first-ever action at Double-A, batting .341 (87-for-255) with 23 doubles, 3 triples, 6 home runs and 54 RBI in 71 games...despite spending less than 3 months with the Drillers, still ranked among team leaders for the season in doubles (3rd) and RBI (4th)...in Texas League, hit .427 (32-for-75) with runners in scoring position with 11 extra base hits...went 14-for-26 (.538) with RISP and 2 outs...was 4-for-7 with the bases loaded...earned Rockies Player of the Month honors for April after batting .387 (29-for-75) with 8 doubles, 2 triples, one homer and 15 RBI in 21 games...named Texas League Batter of the Week for April 18-24...in final game of that stretch on April 24 vs. Springfield, went 4-for-4 with 2 triples, 3 runs scored and 6 RBI...had a .391 average through May 6...on May 16 at Arkansas, Spilborghs hit for the cycle in the Drillers' 5-2 win...he tripled in the first inning, singled in the 3rd, homered in the 5th and then doubled in the 7th to complete his 4-for-5 afternoon...he joined 4 other players as the only Drillers to accomplish the feat...was selected to start in the Texas League All-Star Game on June 21 in Frisco, Texas, going 1-for-4...would play just 2 more games for Drillers after All-Star break and was promoted to Triple-A Colorado Springs on June 25...at time of his promotion, was leading the Texas League in batting average, doubles, on-base percentage (.435), and ranked 2nd in RBI...batted .339 (77-for-227) with 23 doubles, 5 triples, 5 home runs and 30 RBI in 60 games at the Springs, his first career action at Triple-A...ranked among Sky Sox leaders in triples (3rd), doubles (4th), steals (5th, 7) and runs (6th, 49) despite playing a little over 2 months for the Springs...saw action at all 3 outfield positions...went 3-for-3 with a double, walk and 3 RBI on July 10 vs. Salt Lake, final game before his stint in majors...returned to the Springs on July 21...hit .352 (45-for-128) over final 2 months of the season, including a 6-game hit streak to end the year at 11-for-26 (.423)...homered in final game of the year on Sept. 5 vs. Fresno...appeared in 2 games for Colorado in spring training, going 0-for-2...hit .287 (41-for-143) with 8 home runs and 22 RBI in 39 games for Obregon in the Mexican Winter League...was not tendered a contract prior to deadline on Dec. 20, but was re-signed to a minor league contract the next day, effectively removing him from the 40-man roster.
2004
Spent the entire season at Visalia, where he finished second on the team in games (125) and was third in hits (115)...reached base safely in 25 consecutive contests, July 13-Aug. 10.

Finished third on the team in average (.281) and tied for third in home runs (15)...hit safely in 21 of 24 games from April 23-May 29...after hitting 1 HR in 57 April at-bats, he hit 7 HR in 97 May at-bats.
