During his senior year (2002) at the University of Florida, set single-season school records in RBI (80) and total bases (186) and tied the home run mark (23, since broken by Indians outfielder and Port Charlotte native Matt LaPorta in 2005)...despite playing only 2 seasons there because of injuries, his 39 career HR rank 4th in school history...is a 1998 graduate of Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, where he also lettered in basketball, football and volleyball...selected by the Rockies in the 8th round of the 1998 June Draft out of high school, but did not sign. Former Florida Gator has played parts of four seasons in the majors...owns a career .311 avg. and .965 OPS over parts of 8 minor league seasons.

2009

Opened season with Triple-A Omaha (Royals), but was sidelined in early May by a left knee injury...started at DH and 1B...led Omaha in batting (.345) and OBP (.454) at the time of his injury...on May 20, Dr. Erol Yoldes performed microfracture surgery as well as a medial meniscectomy in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., ending his season.

2008

Was recalled from Omaha by the Royals on Sep 2 and had a huge month, with 7 HR and 20 RBI in only 20 games (73 AB)...Royals were 16-3 in his 19 starts...on Sep 13 at CLE (G2), went 4-for-5 with 2 HR and 5 RBI, tying career highs...hit a combined 29 homers in the minors and majors.

2007

Had a tough start to the 2007 season and then was hit with a pair of injuries, the last of which caused him to miss the last half of the season at the Major League level...Struggled in April, hitting .096 (5-for-52) before doubling in a run in his first at bat on April 30...strained his hamstring running the bases following the double...Placed on the 15-day D.L. on May 1 with a left hamstring strain...appeared in 2 rehab games at Omaha (1-for-7) before being activated from the D.L. on May 16...missed 14 games...Following his return, hit .429 (12-for-28) with a home run and 7 RBI in his next 8 games, with the Royals going 6-2...Drove in the winning run with a 9th-inning single on May 16 in Oakland...Returned to Colorado, his original organization, and went 6-for-9 with a double, home run and 5 RBI from May 18-20...his 3-hit games on May 19 and 20 were his only two 3-hit games of the season...Scored a career high 4 runs in the Royals 17-3 win over Philadelphia on June 10...went 2-for-3 with an RBI and 2 walks in the game...Placed back on the 15-day D.L. with the left hamstring strain on June 30... began a rehab assignment at Omaha on July 21 and was later optioned to Omaha on Aug. 11...was recalled from Omaha on Aug. 30 and placed on the 60-day D.L., ending his season...Played a total of 34 games for Omaha, hitting .262 with 7 home runs and 24 RBI...Did not commit an error in 52 games at first (431 total chances) at the Major League level...joins Andy Phillips of the Yankees and Kevin Youkilis of the Red Sox as the only 3 first basemen in baseball to play at least 50 games and not commit an error.

2006

2004

The Texas League Player of the Year, Shealy led the circuit in home runs (29), RBI (99), extrabase hits (64), total bases (274) and slugging percentage (.584) for Class AA Tulsa...he was third in batting average (.318) and second in on-base percentage (.411) en route to being named Colorado's Organizational Player of the Year as well...a mid-season and post-season all-star, Shealy became only the second Driller to win league player of the year, joining Bubba Smith in 1996...made a run at the Triple Crown, as he led in both HR and RBI and was only five points behind Round Rock's Willy Taveras with five games to play (.324 to .329)...he went just 1-for-his-last-16 to drop out of the race...Ryan finished third among the league leaders in runs scored (88) and tied for fourth in doubles (32)...he led all TL first basemen with a .997 fielding percentage, committing just 4 errors in 127 games...named Topps' Texas League Player of the Month for July, hitting .333 with 10 HR and 25 RBI...he batted a season-best .370 in April and also hit .360 in June...in fact, his average never dipped below .300 over the final three months starting June 4...went 5-for-6 with 4 runs, 2 homers and 6 RBI on June 29 at El Paso.

2003

Underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee prior to the season on April 9...despite missing the first six weeks of the year, Shealy still went on to lead the organization with a .391 on-base percentage, third highest in the Cal League...compiled a league-high 39 consecutive game on-base streak from May 28-July 11...reached safely in 34 straight road games, May 20-Aug. 2, which included a leaguebest 19-game road hitting streak from May 20-July 2...broke up a combined no hitter for Stockton with two outs in the bottom of the ninth on a double down the left field line (Aug. 16).

2002

Named Pioneer League MVP and Baseball America's Rookie League Player of the Year in his first pro season at Casper...barely missed the Triple Crown, leading the circuit with 19 home runs and 70 RBI, while finishing runner-up for the batting title with a .368 average...led the Pioneer League in on-base percentage (.497), slugging percentage (.714), extra-base hits (41) and total bases (165)...his home run, RBI and slugging totals led all short-season minor leaguers...was selected to Baseball America's Rookie League All Star Team and won the league's Sportsticker "Star of Stars" Award...named the league's Player of the Week three times, June 24-30 (.450-5-13), July 1-7 (.542-3-14) and Aug. 5-11 (.467-3-10)...named Topps' Player of the Month for July, batting .360 with 6 HR and 28 RBI.
