cartilage in his right knee...made his last appearance of the season on 8/2 at Wsh...on 8/8 had arthroscopic surgery to repair the cartilage damage in his knee
(Dr. Timothy Kremchek)...led the club with 58 starts
batting leadoff...made his 65 starts at 3 positions (49

5th) and hardest to GIDP (90.8ab, 10th)...missed
the last 10g of the season with a hairline fracture of
his left thumb...suffered the injury diving for a ball
on 9/19 at Hou...started the next day but left the game in the fourth inning...didn't play again the rest of the
season...made 108 starts at 5 different positions (44gs in CF, 41gs in RF, 11gs at 2B, 9gs at 3B, 3gs in LF)...

snapped the 7-7 tie...from 6/19-6/23 produced at least 3 hits in 4-5g (14-24, .583), raising BA from .272 to
.308 and including a string of 3 straight 3-hit games (6/19-6/21)...became the first Reds batter with 3 hits in
3 consecutive games since Sean Casey in August 2004 and the first Reds batter with four 3-hit games in
a 5-game span since Thomas Howard in 1996...on 6/23 at Cle produced 5 hits, the most by a Reds batter
all season, and recorded career stolen bases #100 and #101...on 7/9 at Atl left the game with a sore right
shoulder and didn't start again until 7/19...on 7/27 at Hou fell a homer shy of the cycle.
2005
For the second straight season led the club in stolen bases...ranked among the National League
leaders in steals (5th) and times caught stealing (10, T6th)...is the first Reds player with at least 30 stolen bases in
consecutive seasons since Barry Larkin in 1995-96...tied his career high in homers...missed 39g during 2 stints on the
15-day disabled list, including 21g from 6/25-7/19 with inflammation at the base of the second toe of his left foot (not
including 5g missed prior to the disabling) and 18g from 8/16-9/4 with torn cartilage in his right knee...on 8/18 had
arthroscopic knee surgery to repair that torn cartilage (Dr. Timothy Kremchek)...returned to action as a pinch hitter on
9/5 and started at 2B on 9/6...in August and September also was bothered by a strained right quadriceps muscle...in
26g after returning from his second stint on the disabled list hit .243 (1hr, 6rbi, 7sb)...made 89 starts at 5 different
positions, including 2B (48g), LF (17g), CF (10g), 3B (8g) and RF (6g)...led the club with 87 starts batting leadoff...made
his other 2 starts batting second...on 7/27 at LA recorded a club-record 5 stolen bases...he donated his spikes to the

Established career highs in almost every statistical category...made 128 starts at 5 different
positions (51g at 3B, 29g in CF, 26g in RF, 12g in LF, 10g at 2B)...became the first player to make at least 10 starts
at 5 different defensive positions since Tony Phillips did it for the Tigers in 1991 and 1992...led the Reds in triples (8),
stolen bases (37), sacrifice bunts (8), starts batting leadoff (105), starts at 3B (51), infield hits (22) and bunt hits
(8)...ranked among the National League leaders in stolen bases (4th) and triples (T5th)...on 5/13 became the team's
full-time leadoff hitter and made his last 104 starts of the season hitting from that position (.284, 63r)...also batted
second (4gs), fifth (1gs), sixth (6gs), seventh (5gs) and eighth (7gs)...in his last 88g beginning 6/13 hit .301 to raise
overall BA from .237 to .277...in July led the club in hitting (.315, 6sb)...on 4/5 vs the Cubs made the first Opening Day

AAA Syracuse...was hampered during spring training by a hamstring pull and didn't play until May...twice recorded 3
stolen bases in a game (8/28 at Pawtucket, 8/30 vs Buffalo)...was Syracuse's Player of the Month for August (26g,
.371, 6hr, 13rbi, 17sb)...won the Blue Jays' Community Service Award.
2001
Began the season with the Blue Jays and made his first 9 Major League apps during that stint (4/2-4/
27)...made his ML debut on 4/4/01 at TB as a defensive replacement at 2B...on 4/5/01 at TB made his first start, played
2B and went 1-for-4...singled off Bryan Rekar in his first big league plate appearance...from 4/5-4/9 made 5 straight
starts at 2B and hit safely in all 5g...on 4/27 was optioned to Class AAA Syracuse and finished the season there.

Appeared in 43g, including 33 starts, during 4 stints with the Reds (4/19-5/5, 5/22-5/28, 7/31-8/
5, 8/20-end of season)...also appeared in 54g for Class AAA Louisville, where his 25 stolen bases were fourth-most
among all Reds minor leaguers...during the season was bothered by a pair of hamstring injuries...from 5/29-7/3 was
on the Reds' 15-day disabled list with a torn left hamstring...from 9/3-9/15 did not play because of a strained right
hamstring...in 11g after his return on 9/16 hit .304 (14-46, 1hr, 6rbi)...in his last 17g of the season hit .300 (21-70, 2hr,
8rbi), including a career-high 7-game hitting streak from 9/1-9/21 (13-31, .419, 2hr, 6rbi), to raise BA from .269 to
season-ending .285...on 9/2 at Mil left the game with the right hamstring injury...didn't play again until 9/16 at Pit and
that night produced 4 hits and 3rbi, both career highs, and a solo HR...hit his first 2 career homers 2 days apart off
Randy Johnson (8/20 at Ari) and Billy Wagner (PH, 8/22 at

Career highlights: Plays all 3 outfield positions as well as second base, third base and shortstop...in 2000
was Syracuse's Player of the Month for August and won the Blue Jays' Community Service Award...in 1994 won a
silver medal while playing for Team USA in the Junior Olympics.

Spent the season playing for the Devil Rays' Class AAA affiliate in Durham...in 119g hit .261 with 8hr, 48rbi and 37sb...led the Devil Rays organization and ranked third in the International League in steals...led Durham in games, runs (65) and doubles (27), all career highs, and walks (38).
