Royce Spencer Clayton...he and his wife, Samantha Davies, have a son, Royce Jr. (1/10/04), and make their home in Scottsdale,, AZ...Royce is a 1988 graduate of St. Bernard High School in Playa del Rey, CA...his wife, a track sprinter for the United Kingdom, participated in the 200-Meter race at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia...Clayton is the President/CEO of Isaac Charles AMERU, a high end American/European fashion line...he worked as an analyst for ESPN during the 1999 World Series...he has also dabbled in acting, making a cameo appearance on the television show, "Martial Law"...in 1997, he founded the Royce Clayton Foundation and has been involved in raising funds for the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, hosting the annual Royce Clayton Celebrity Golf Classic to raise money for sickle cell research...he was honored with the Texas Rangers' Jim Sundberg Community Achievement Award in 1999...he was the Rangers' nominee in 1999 and 2000 for the Roberto Clemente Man of the Year Award...an avid golfer, Royce participated in the Fox Network's made-for-television golf tournament in conjunction with the Super Bowl last January in Jacksonville.

2007

Spent most of 2007 with the Toronto Blue Jays, but closed the season in Boston after signing a minor league contract with the Red Sox on August 23...Appeared in 7 games for Triple-A Pawtucket before earning a September 1 call-up to Boston, where he remained through the end of the season...Had a .254 average with one homer and 12 RBI in 69 games with Toronto before being designated for assignment on August 3 and released on August 6...Saw action in 8 games for the Red Sox in September, including one start at shortstop...Boston is Clayton's 11th major league team, tying Todd Zeile for the most teams by a position player since 1900...RHP Mike Morgan holds the all-time record with 12 MLB teams.

On 7/13 was acquired from the Nationals in an 8-player deal that sent SS Felipe Lopez to Wsh...for the Reds made 38 starts at SS but just 9 starts in September...the Reds were his ninth team (SF, StL, Tex, WSox, Mil, Col, Ari, Wsh, Cin), tying the Major League record for a SS (Jack Glasscock, 1879-1895; Rey Sanchez, 1991-2005).

Played outstanding defense at shortstop. ... Had season-best nine-game hitting streak from Aug. 10-20 and reached base safely in 19 straight from July 29-Aug. 20. ... Collected 1,700th career hit on Aug. 14.

2004
