Began his seventh professional campaign on the 15-day Disabled List with right elbow inflammation...Sustained the injury while pitching for the Netherlands in this year's World Baseball Classic...Made two rehab starts (1-0, 2.25 ERA), one with single-A Jupiter and the other with triple-A New Orleans, before being recalled from rehab and reinstated from the 15-day DL and then optioned to New Orleans on June 3...Split time between New Orleans and Florida, going on to post a combined record of 7-4 with a 3.57 ERA (113.1 IP/45 ER) in 21 starts...Prior to his first recall, made eight starts with the Zephyrs and posted a 3-1 mark with a 2.86 ERA (43.2 IP/14 ER)...Recalled by Florida on July 20 and went 2-2 with a 5.12 ERA (31.2 IP/18 ER) in six starts...Optioned back to New Orleans on August 17 and went 1-1 with a 3.27 ERA (11.0 IP/4 ER) in two starts prior to being recalled by Florida again on September 1...Finished the season with the Marlins, compiling a 1-0 record and 3.33 ERA (27.0 IP/10 ER) in five starts...In his 11 starts with Florida, allowed more than two runs only three times; August 5 at Washington (5), August 16 vs. Colorado (6) and September 23 vs. Philadelphia (4)...Reached a season-high 6.0 innings in five of his 11 starts...Struck out a career-high nine batters twice; July 30 vs. Atlanta and again on August 16 vs. Colorado.

Moved to Advanced-A for the entire season, anchoring the Jupiter rotation...Dropped his hit per nine innings to 8.4 from 11.4 the previous season.

Debuted with the Gulf Coast entry with the Marlins, making 11 appearances, including 10 starts...Walked 20 and allowed 49 hits in 38.2 innings.
