Rene Micheal Tosoni (pronounced ruh-NAY tuh-SO-nee)...wife Whitney (Jenner)...2004 graduate of Terry Fox Secondary School in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia (Canada) where he also played hockey and volleyball...played high school baseball for the Coquitlam Reds of the B.C. Premier Baseball League...attended Chipola Junior College...member of Canada's Junior National Baseball team in 2003 and 2004.
2011
Started the season with Triple-A Rochester...made four stints with the Twins during the season...it safely in 18 of his first 20 games with the Red Wings, including a 10-game hitting streak, April 8-19...Recalled by Minnesota, April 28, when the Twins placed Delmon Young on the 15-day disabled list...Went 2-for-4 with an rbi in his first game, April 28 vs. Tampa Bay...recorded his first Major League hit, a single off Jeremy Hellickson in his first at-bat...recorded his first career rbi with a single off Hellickson in his third at-bat...it his first Major League home run, a solo homer off Rick Porcello, May 10 vs. Detroit...Played in 13 games for the Twins before being optioned back to Triple-A Rochester, May 12, when Delmon Young was reinstated from the disabled list...Played in 26 games for the Red Wings before being recalled again, June 9, when the Twins placed Denard Span on the 7-day disabled list...Played 13 games for the Twins and was optioned back to Triple-A Rochester, June 24 when Jim Thome was reinstated from the disabled list...recalled on June 26, only to be optioned again, July 10...Set a Triple-A season-high with four hits, August 2 vs. Buffalo...Recalled by Minnesota for final time, August 15, when the Twins traded Delmon Young to Detroit...it safely in his final nine games for Minnesota, setting a season-high for a hitting streak...batted .423 (11-for-26) with five doubles, two home runs and eight rbi during that stretch...it the first grand slam by a Twins player at Target Field, September 27 vs. Kansas City...the grand slam came off Vin Mazzaro in the sixth inning...he was one of two players to hit a grand slam for the Twins in 2011 (Michael Cuddyer, August 3 at LAA).

Was a Spring Training invite...reassigned to minor league camp and assigned to Double-A New Britain, March 14...Batted .432 (16-for-37) in his first 10 games for the Rock Cats...Was named Twins Minor League Player of the Week, April 23 after batting .423 with two doubles, one home run, two rbi, four runs scored and two walks in seven games...Played in his final game on June 6, before being placed on the disabled list with a season-ending right labrum strain, June 10.
2009
Spent entire season at Double-A New Britain...homered in his second game, April 9 at New Hampshire...hit .323 (30-for-93) with six doubles, two triples, five home runs, 20 rbi and 17 runs scored in 30 games in May...collected 19 multi-rbi games, including a season-high three rbi seven times...was selected to play in the XM Future's game in St. Louis and was named the game's Most Valuable Player after a go-ahead pinch-hit rbi-double in his only at-bat of the game, leading the World Team to a 7-5 win over the United States...batted .308 (91-for-295) with 13 home runs vs. right-handers and .185 (24-for-130) and two home runs vs. left-handers...recorded 30 multi-hit games...finished third among Twins minor leaguers with 71 rbi...participated in the Arizona Fall League with the Mesa Solar Sox, batting .218 (19-for-87) with one home run and 10 rbi in 23 games.
2008
Spent entire season at Single-A Ft. Myers...went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two rbi, April 21 vs. Lakeland...batted .340 (16-for-47) in 13 May games...disabled with a left foot fracture, May 17...selected to the Florida State League All-Star team (DNP-DL)...rehabbed with the GCL Twins for two games and reinstated, August 26...hit safely in 30 of his 42 games played...batted .440 (11-for-25) vs. lefties and .270 (31-for-115) vs. righties.
2007
Began season at Rookie-Level Elizabethton...hit his first professional home run, July 21 vs. Bluefield...batted .337 (29-for-86) in 26 July games...recorded 22 multi-hit games...named to the Appalachian League Postseason All-Star team...transferred to Beloit, September 2...ranked third in runs and on-base percentage in the Appalachian League...transferred to Beloit, September 2 for two games, collecting three hits in 11 at-bats.
