Full name is Ralph Albert Garza Jr...Graduated from New Braunfels (TX) High School in 2012...Was named District MVP and All-State in his senior season...Was Freshman of the Year and Comal County Player of the Year in 2009...Pitched three seasons at the University of Oklahoma (2013-15)...Finished his college career with the third-most appearances in program history (84).

2021

Made his ML debut, making 27 relief appearances for the Astros (9) and Twins (18)...Attended ML Spring Training with the Astros as a non-roster invitee...Assigned to Triple-A Sugar Land from the Astros’ Al.ternate Training Site...Allowed one hit over three scoreless relief outings (6.2 IP) before being selected by HOU on 5/26...Made his ML debut on 5/29 at SD, entering in the 12th inning and taking the loss (1.0 IP, 3 R/2 ER)...After three ML stints with HOU, was designated for assignment on 8/1...Claimed off waivers by the Twins on 8/4 and assigned to Triple-A St. Paul. Recalled by MIN on 8/14 and spent the rest of the season in the majors...Tossed 2.0 perfect innings (1 SO) on 8/14 vs. TB, his Twins debut...Earned his first career save on 9/23 vs. TOR (1.1 IP, SO)...Allowed 0 ER in 13 of his 18 appearances for the Twins...Worked more than 1.0 inning five times, including three outings of a career-high-tying 2.0 innings.

Did not appear in any game action in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season.

2019

Appeared in 42 games with Round Rock which was the most game by any pitcher in the Astros organization....recorded a 4.04 ERA (35ER/78IP) with 80 strikeouts and five save...held the opposing batters to a .202 batting average and walked just 28 batters...also recorded a career-low 1.09 WHIP.

2018

Posted a 7-2 record with a 3.51 ERA (26ER/66.2IP) with 74 strikeouts in 35 relief appearances...held batters to a .227 batting average.

2017

Notched three saves in five opportunities along with a 3-3 record...recorded a 4.22 ERA (30ER/64IP) in 36 relief appearances...struck out 68 batters while walking 36 batters between Fresno (1g), Buies Creek (20g) and Corpus Christi (15g).

2016

Played in 40 games as a reliever, recording a 3.35 ERA (28ER/75.1IP) with 64 strikeouts and 26 walks in just his first full professional season.

2015

Appeared in 14 games including three starts with Tri-City, recorded a 3.89 ERA (16ER/37IP) wwith 47 strikeouts and allowed just one home run.
