Set a career high in hits (154)...hit a team-best .336 (47x140) with RISP...hit .325 (27x83) with two homers and 17 RBI through his first 24 games...slugged his sixth and seventh career grand slams on July 12 vs. PIT (Virgil Vasquez) and on Sept. 29 vs. HOU (Wilton Lopez)...had 45 multi-hit games; Phillies went 32-13 (.711) in those games...defensively, finished first in games (155) and double plays (35) among NL third basemen, second in starts (150) and total chances (437), third in assists (312) and putouts (110) and had the fifth-best fielding percentage (.966)...started all 15 of the Phillies postseason games, combining to hit .167 (9x54) with two homers and four RBI in the three rounds of play...in Game 4 of the World Series on Nov. 1 vs. NYY, went 3x4 with a homer and two RBI...the homer tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the 8th inning.

Got off to slow start in 1st season at Shreveport before playing well enough to earn late-season promotion to Triple-A Fresno...in 100 games for Captains, hit .264 (96-for-364) with 23 2Bs, 2 3Bs, 12 HRs and 50 RBI...was hitting .209 (18-for-86) in his 1st 25 games before going on Disabled List with sprained right ankle...was disabled from May 2-June 9...hit .312 (67-for-215) with 17 2Bs, 10 HRs and 37 RBI over his 1st 56 games back from Disabled List through Aug. 10...earned promotion to Fresno Sept. 1 and appeared in 3 regular season games for Grizzlies...hit .429 (3-for-7) with 2B, HR and 3 RBI...started 2 games at 3B for Fresno in PCL playoffs and went hitless in 9 at-bats with RBI.

1997

Spent full season at single-A Bakersfield, appearing in 135 of team's 140 games...established career-highs in games, at-bats (515), runs (59), hits (140), doubles (25), home runs (14) and walks (23)...hit .283 (121-for-427) with 12 HRs and 49 RBI in 111 contests over final 4 months of campaign...was honored by Giants' organization as Player of the Month for Bakersfield in August, batting .289 (33-for-117) with 5 HRs, 13 RBI and 17 runs scored in 29 games...played exclusively at 3rd base.

1996

Played his 2nd straight season at single-A Burlington, appearing in 93 contests while batting .265 with 5 HRs and 36 RBI...homers were his 1st as professional, having been held without clout in 232 at-bats over previous 2 seasons...served as club's primary 3rd baseman (91 games), while also seeing action at 1st base (2 contests).

1995

Was assigned to rookie-level Bellingham in June after remaining in Arizona for extended spring training... participated in 43 contests for Northwest League squad, batting career-best .274 with 16 RBI...made 25 appearances at 3B and 4 at 1B.

Made pro debut with rookie-level Scottsdale Giants, seeing action in 38 games...struggled at plate as he spent his 1st full year away from Dominican, batting just .193 (23-for-119) with no HRs and 3 RBI...each of his 23 hits were singles.
