Spent most of the season on the 60-day disabled list after undergoing ligament replacement ("Tommy
John") surgery on his right elbow on August 9, 2001.

Lost all 4 starts, and batters hit .337 (31-92) off him.
Spent most of the year rehabbing at the Orioles' minor league facility in Sarasota, FL.
Made his first rehab start on August 5 for the Orioles' Gulf Coast League team before coming north and
starting for each of the Orioles' Maryland-based farm teams, Aberdeen (twice), Delmarva, Frederick and
Bowie.

- Underwent ligament replacement ("Tommy John") surgery on his right elbow on August 9, ending his season...Made 9 starts before being sidelined in mid-May for the remainder of the season.
- Surgery was performed by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, AL...He is expected to miss most of the 2002 season.
- Was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 25, retroactive to May 17, with a sprained right elbow, and was transferred to the 60-day DL on September 1 so the Orioles could add Rick Bauer to the 40-man roster.
- Won only 2 starts despite posting a 3.47 ERA and having 7 "Quality Starts" (6 or more IP, 3 or fewer ER) in his 9 outings...Left two starts while ahead but failed to get the win when the bullpen failed to hold the lead.
- Orioles scored a total of 33 runs in his 9 starts, and only 24 runs while he was in the game...O's scored 3 runs or less in 5 of his starts and he had the 5th lowest run support in the AL (3.47 runs/9.0IP) at the time he went on the DL.
