Patrick Lance Borders...he and his wife, Kathy, have seven children: Lindsay, Levi, Luke, Laura, Leah, Lance and Lilly... resides on a 40-acre vegetable farm in Lake Wales, FL...graduated from Lake Wales High School in 1982 where he played baseball and football...batted .510 as a senior with a school-record 10 home runs and 36 RBI in 25 games...turned down a football scholarship at Mississippi State University to sign with the Toronto Blue Jays...his brother, Todd, caught for one season in the minors (1988).
2005
Appeared in 39 games for Seattle and picked up 23 hits, a home run, and seven RBI ... Committed just two errors in 192 total chances (.990) behind the plate with Seattle ... Hit .245 with three home runs and 14 RBI in 26 games for Triple-A Nashville in the Milwaukee organization.

Began season at Tacoma . . . hit safely in 7 consecutive games, going 12-28 (.429), May 4-August 6 . . . contract selected, May 6 . . . was 4-8 (.500) in 3 games, June 11-16 . . . designated for assignment, July 15 . . . acquired from Seattle in exchange for outfielder B.J. Tossed out an International League best 45% (36x80) of runners attempting to steal ...stole pro career best 7 bases after just 22 in prior 18 seasons, none since 1994...was I.L. player of the week, June 26-July 2...played for Gold Medal winning U.S. Olympic Team in Sydney, Australia, batting .429 (6x14)...was 2x3 with a double and rbi in 4-0 win over Cuba in Gold Medal Game.
2001
Spent most of season with Tampa Bay's Durham club, starting 40 games at catcher, 37 as the DH, and 9 at 1st base...traded to Seattle organization on Aug. 27 and went 3x11 in 3 starts at catcher for Tacoma...was purchased by Mariners on Sept. 5 and appeared in 5 games behind the plate the rest of the year...lone start was on Sept. 20 vs. Anaheim...was not on Seattle's postseason roster.
2002
Was released by the Texas organization during spring training and re-signed with the Mariners April 9...selected by Seattle Sept. 4...had a pinch-hit, RBI double on Sept. 28 at Anaheim, Seattle's first extra base hit by a pinch-hitter on the season...made lone start in Mariners final game of the year, Sept. 29 at Anaheim and was 1x2...granted free agency Nov. 4.
2003
Began the season on Mariners ML roster (Wilson DL)...was optioned to Tacoma April 6...recalled May 30 (Mabry DL) and optioned back to Tacoma June 16...recalled for third time July 25 (Cirillo DL) and optioned back Aug. 15...recalled for final time Aug. 31...appeared in 12 games with Seattle, making four starts...team had a 1.43 ERA with him starting behind the plate (6 ER / 33.0 IP, all in four Sept. Garcia starts)...named to PCL mid-season All-Star Game.
