2003

Began the season in the Dodgers' bullpen following an off-season trade with Philadelphia ... Moved into starting rotation for good in May and finished 5th on staff with 23 starts.

Went 9-8 with a 4.45 ERA as a starter (131.1 IP, 65 ER) and 2-1 with a 1.50 ERA (30.0 IP, 5 ER) in 16 relief appearances.

Held opponents to 2 earned runs or fewer in 14 of his 23 starts ... Walked two batters or less in 16 of his 23 starts.

His 24 wins over the last two seasons tied for 4th among National League left-handers with Al Leiter, behind Randy Johnson (45), Tom Glavine (34) and Kirk Reuter (28).

Made 3 relief appearances before getting his first start in place of injured Kevin Brown on April 18 vs. San Diego ... Allowed 2 unearned runs and struck out 8 batters in 6.1 innings in a 5-2 win.

Started on August 4 at Philadelphia and beat the Phillies, 4-3, pitching 6.1 innings and hitting a solo home run for a 1-0 lead. wIn 6 starts, August 4-31, went 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA (40.0 IP, 8 ER) ... Struggled in September, going 0-3 with a 6.65 ERA (23.0 IP, 17 ER) in 5 starts.

In final start of season, September 27 vs. San Diego, allowed just two singles in 8.0 innings but didn't receive a decision in Dodgers' 1-0 win in 10 innings.

Did not commit an error in 43 chances ... Had 6th highest total chances without an error among National League pitchers.

2001

With the Philadelphia Phillies, Daal was 13-7 with a 4.46 ERA in 32 starts...served as the Phillies' Opening Day starter, the first of his career....had the fifth most wins among NL left-handers behind Randy Johnson (21-6), Tom Glavine (16-7), Mike Hampton (14-12) and Kirk Rueter (14-12)...of those, he had the third best winning percentage behind only Johnson (.778) and Glavine (.696) with a .650 mark...his .650 winning percentage was the highest of his career...first Phillie pitcher since 1996 to begin season 6-0 since Mike Grace in 1996 and first Phillie left-hander since Al Holland in 1983...had a career-high six-game winning streak from April 14-May 23...did not lose a game until June 3 at Montreal...threw 8.0 shutout innings on May 18 vs. St. Louis allowing just two hits...had a 14-inning scoreless streak May 18-23...struck out a season-high 10 batters on Sept. 21 vs. Florida...had a 0.90 ERA in his final three starts (20.0 IP, 2 ER)...held left-handed opponents to a .214 average...was 9-2 with a 4.69 ERA during the first half of the season...was 6-1 with a 3.99 ERA on grass...had two hits and scored twice in one inning on May 6 vs. San Francisco, becoming the first Phillie pitcher to record two hits in an inning since Dennis Cook on May 2, 1990...had three hits on May 12 at Arizona...overall, Daal hit .236 with five RBI...
