David Nathaniel Lowe…younger brother, Josh, was the Rays’ first round selection (13th overall) in the 2016 June draft, the third time in franchise history that brothers were selected in the same draft…Josh, an outfielder drafted out of high school, has appeared in 54 games with the Rays in 2021-22…Nathaniel and Josh were teammates at Bowling Green in 2017 and Charlotte in 2018…their father, David, was a 5th round selection of SEA in the 1986 MLB draft but accepted an appointment at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., where he played football (LB) and baseball (RHP) for four years each…went on to have a 20-year career as a U.S. Navy pilot… Nathaniel has spent multiple New Year’s Days on mission trips to the Bahamian Island of Eleuthera…the 8-day trips centered around youth ministry and athletic activities…participated in the Texas Rangers Fan Fest and Winter Caravan events this offseason…some of his interests outside of baseball include golf, photography and waterfowl hunting.
