Spent the season managing the organization's short-season Class-A Jamestown Jammers of the New York-Penn League. The team posted a 31-44 record. Signed as a free agent on Sept. 12, adding experience to the roster. Made his lone start on Sept. 20 at the Mets, going 0-for-2 that game. It was his first big league experience since the final game of the 2004 season.
2004
Veteran utility player tied his career high with four hits at Tampa Bay on June 27 ... Belted his only home run in the last game of the season, connecting off Philadelphia's Brett Myers ... Filled in at catcher on June 1, replacing the injured Ramon Castro, who left in the second inning. The game went into extra innings and Mordecai caught eight frames against the Reds. It was the second time in his career he saw action at catcher.
2003
- Saw action in 65 games, making 14 starts and seeing 25 pinch-hit appearances... overall, played in 14 games
(nine starts) at shortstop, 12 games (one start) at third base, 12 games (three starts) at second base and one

Also played first base on three occasions, including the second game of the season... He and Geoff Blum were the only Expos to play at all infield positions... Appeared eight times as a pinch-hitter, going 1-for-7 with a walk... Established career highs with a .284 batting average and 16 doubles... As a starter, he batted an impressive .324 (37-for-114) while showing some power with two home runs, 13 doubles and 10 RBI.
- HOME RUN: Hit a 3-run home run in his only plate appearance on May 3 off Colorado's Pedro Astacio.
- BIG RUN: Went 2-for-4 on May 9 against the Phillies starting at third base... Doubled in the tying run in the 9th inning in a 3-2 Expos win... Was first start since April 14 at Philadelphia.
- GAME WINNER: Drove in the winning run on May 14 with a 9th-inning single off Chicago's Rick Aguilera... The Expos rallied for three runs to overcome 15-13 deficit.
- IT'S A BOY: Rejoined the team on August 4 at Houston after travelling to Alabama for the birth of his son, Jackson, who was born on August 2.
- EXTRA-INNING: Singled in the 10th inning as a pinch-hitter on August 5 at Houston in the Expos 10-9 win.
- 3-HITTER: Went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk and two runs on August 8 at Arizona, tying a career high for most hits for the fourth time.
- SIDELINED: Missed five games with a contusion to his right knee from September 4-8... Suffered the injury on September 3 at Cincinnati attempting to turn a double play.

Mordecai was, for the second season in a row, a valuable, experienced utility player for manager Felipe Alou... Also appeared in a career-high number of games due to injuries to third baseman Shane Andrews in May and to shortstop Orlando Cabrera in August-September... Appeared in 109 games (53 starts) and set career highs in all offensive categories, except batting average, while tying his triples total (2)... Defensively, he compiled a .967 fielding percentage, committing seven errors despite being shuffled between three positions.
- STARTS: Started 53 games including 24 at third base, 22 at shortstop and seven at second base... Started in a career-high 13 straight games from May 17-31 while Shane Andrews was on the DL... Started 12 of those games at third base and one at second... Started four straight games from April 1-5, 1996, when he was with the Braves, replacing an injured Chipper Jones.
- SPARKPLUG: Gave the Club a much needed boost during his 13-game starting streak, going 16-for-53 (.301) with four doubles, one triple, four homers, seven walks, 10 RBI and 13 runs scored... The Expos went 8-5 during the run.
- THREE RUNS: Doubled, hit a two-run homer, walked and scored three runs as the lead-off man on May 31 as the Expos completed a three-game sweep of the Giants at Montreal.
- FORE: Homered in consecutive games twice... Solo HR off Milwaukee's Hideo Nomo on May 21 after belting a HR off the Philadelphia's Chad Ogea May 19... Also homered on May 29 off the Giants Shawn Estes before homering off San Fran's Chris Brock on May 30 to set a career high with four homers.
- LAST HOMER: Came in the season finale on October 3 at Philadelphia, hitting a two-run shot off Randy Wolf.
- STREAK: Hit safely in a career-high eight straight games from May 26-June 8, going 10-for-30 (.333) with three doubles, two homers and four RBI during the run.
- THREE-HITTER: Went 3-for-4, RBI on July 16 at Baltimore for third career three-hit game, second time in 1999 (May 17 against Philadelphia)... First three-hit game came on August 30, 1996 as a member of the Braves at Chicago.
1998
Mordecai joined the Expos in 1998 as a Spring Training invitee... Appeared in 73 games while starting 21 of them... Started 10 games at second base, nine at short and two at third... His season was interrupted for a month due to a sprained right thumb, missing 25 games... Was injured on June 23 at Toronto, diving into second base while attempting to stretch a single into a double to lead off the 4th inning... Was reinstated from the disabled list on July 24 after a six-game rehabilitation assignment at AAA Ottawa along with a two-game stint at Class A Jupiter... Hit his first home run the day he came back from the injury, in the second game of a doubleheader on July 24 at Milwaukee off Paul Wagner... First dinger since September 28, 1996, at the Big O (then with the Atlanta Braves)... Connected again for a two-run HR off Carlos Perez on August 24 vs the Dodgers... Solo shot off Alvin Morman on September 2 at San Francisco, going 2-for-2, while adding a triple.
1997
Mordecai played five different positions for the Braves in 1997... Appeared in 61 games overall, playing 19 games at third base (five starts); four at second base and four at shortstop; three at first base (one start) and one in right field... Served as designated hitter on June 30 vs the Yankees (0-for-4)... Had five hits in five at-bats April 16-20, including two doubles, one triple, one RBI and three runs... Hit .175 (11-for-63) in 52 games before being assigned to AAA Richmond... Was in a 1-for-23 skid... In the International League, hit .311 (38-for-122) with 10 doubles, three home runs, 23 runs and 15 RBI in 31 games... Recalled by the Braves on September 1 but was not added to the postseason roster.
1996
Mordecai was utilized as a key reserve with the Braves in 1996, playing all infield positions... Started 17 games, 12 at second base and five at third base... Filled in for the injured Chipper Jones, starting the first four games of the season... Drove in the go-ahead run with an 18th-inning single in the Braves 5-3 win August 3 at Los Angeles... Placed on 15-day disabled list April 19 with hairline fracture of the radius bone in right wrist... Injury occurred April 18 on a hard ground ball hit by Florida's Greg Colbrunn... Recalled from rehabilitation assignment at Richmond May 11.

Played seven different positions through the course of the regular season (all but pitcher and center field)... Reached base via a hit or walk 10 straight times, including back-to-back four-hit games and seven consecutive hits at Rochester June 29-July 1... Ended the season with a seven-game hitting streak.
