Full name: Matt Jacob Miller...Resides in Greenville, MS... Wife's name is Mandy...The couple has one son, Jacoby Maddox (10/26/2006)...Graduated from Leland (MS) High School in 1990 where he played baseball...Pitched for two years at Mississippi Delta Community College in 1990-92, one year at NE Louisiana University and in 1995 wrapped up his college eligibility at Delta State (MS) University...Went undrafted out of college and played professionally in the independent Big South League in his hometown of Greenville, MS in 1996...He and his wife, Mandy, participated in the Tribe's Grand Slam Summer Literacy Program in 2004.
2006
Season was interrupted for 4 months by right elbow surgery, but came back healthy over the last month of the season...Made 6 relief appearances in April, going 0-0 w/a 5.62 ERA (8.0IP, 7H, 5ER, 5BB, 8K) with Cleveland before leaving game of April 19 at Baltimore with a right elbow strain. u Miller had surgery on his right elbow on April 26 in Cleveland by Dr. Mark Schickendantz to repair a damaged flexor tendon in his right elbow and rehabbed from surgery all summer before making 3 scoreless rehab appearances at AAA Buffalo and AA Akron from August 29-Sept. 3...Was activated off the DL on Sept. 5 and went 1-0 w/a 1.17 ERA in 8 outings in September (7.2IP, 4H, 1ER, 4K, .160 avg)... Earned 1st win since 6/28/05 on Sept. 23 @TEX (0.2IP, BB, K)...Struck out a season-high 4 batters on April 15 at Detroit...10 of his 14 outings were scoreless...Batters hit .212 (11-52) with 2HR at the big league level, including a mark of .188 (6-32) by RHH (0HR)...Righthanded hitters compiled a slugging % of .250 off him...Batters were 4 for 25 off him in September (.160, all singles)...Batters hit .190 (4-21) off him with RISP and .200 (2-10) with RISP-2outs... Allowed only 2HR all year and has allowed only 18HR in 500.0 professional IP...

Opened the year with Greenville in the independent Texas-Louisiana League...Signed by the Texas organization and joined A Savannah on 6/27.
2005
Compiled a very solid first half, but an elbow injury limited him to just 1 appearance in the 2nd half and ended his season prematurely...At the time of his injury on July 15 vs. Chicago-AL (0.0+IP, 1H, 1R) he ranked 6th in the AL in relief ERA and his inherited runner pct. (21%) was 7th in the AL among relievers...Left the game of July 15 with a strained tendon in his right elbow and was placed on the 15-day DL on the next day...Made 2 rehab outings, August 28 & 31, before experiencing more soreness in the elbow region and was shutdown for the season...18 of his 23 outings were scoreless...Tossed 2.1IP on two occasions (last on June 28 @BOS) to equal a career-high...Earned only save of the season on May 29 vs. Oakland...Allowed just 3 earned runs over his last 12 games/15.1IP (1.76ERA)...Batters hit .212 (22-104) on the year w/1HR allowed, including a mark of .194 (7-36) vs. LHH...Batters hit .196 (10-51) off him with runners on, .184 (7-38) with RISP and .150 (3-20) with RISP-2outs...Only 4 of 19 of his inherited runners scored (21%)...Was optioned to Buffalo on April 16 when Sabathia came off the DL and returned on May 20...Did not allow a run in 8 of his 9 outings w/the Bison and did not allow a run (1 hit) over his last 8.0IP before his recall... Allowed only 1HR all year and has allowed only 16HR in 477.0 professional IP...Appeared in 5 games in winter ball in Puerto Rico in December (5.0IP, 2ER).

Split the season between A Charlotte and AA Tulsa, combining to go 7-6 with a 3.26 ERA in 56 relief appearances... Ranked 2nd in the Rangers organization in saves (15) and sixth among all minor league relievers with 12.82 strikeouts per nine innings...Pitched 11 games for the Arizona Fall League champion Mesa Solar Sox...Was 2-2 with 2 saves and a 10.91 ERA (19ER in 15.2IP).
2004
Spent most of the season with Cleveland in his longest tenure to date in the big leagues and ended the season as one of Eric Wedge's most reliable relievers...His season-ending relief ERA of 3.09 was 12th among AL relievers w/at least 48.2IP while his inherited runners scored % of 25.5 (14 of 55) was the 15th best mark in the AL and tops on the club...Was 10th in the league w/a .216 relief average against...Started the year in AAA Buffalo where he was 1-2 w/a 1.93 ERA & 2 saves in 13 outings (14.0 IP, 10 H, 3ER, 6 BB, 17 SO)...No runs allowed in last 11games at Buffalo (12.1IP, 5H, 15K)...Made his Indians & AL debut on 5/16 vs. Tampa Bay (2.0IP, 1H, 0R, career/season-high equaling 5K)...Allowed a run in only 12 of his 57 outings... Did not allow a run in 8 straight app. from 5/28-6/13 (7.1 IP)...First ML win on 6/13 vs. Cincinnati...1st ML save on 7/19 in extra innings at Anaheim...Did not allow a run in 19 straight outings (17.0IP) from 8/2-9/17, both season-highs among Indians pitchers in 2004...From 8/2 until the end of the season he allowed only 1 run (1ER) in 25 appearances (0.38ERA, 23.2IP, 13H, 1ER, 20K)...Also fanned 5 on 724 vs. Kansas City (N)...His 1st batter average of .163 (8-49) was the 4th lowest mark in the league... His average against w/runners on of .208 (21-101) was 13th best in the league.
2003
Began the season at AAA Colorado Springs and was one of the Pacific Coast League's best relievers after signing with the Rockies in 11/02...Season and minor league career culminated w/a brief four-game stint with the Rockies in late June...Was stellar with AAA Colorado Springs, posting a 5-0 record with a 2.13 ERA and .204 average against in 61 games (63.1IP, 46H, 15ER)...Struck out 83 while walking only 23 for an average of 11.8 SO per 9.0IP...Contract was purchased by Colorado on 6/27... Matt made his first-ever appearance on a major league 25-man roster after seven-plus years and 296 games in the minors, making his ML debut on 6/27 at Pittsburgh, working a scoreless inning with one strikeout...Worked 3 of 4 scoreless outings with the Rockies from 6/27-7/3 before being designated for assignment on 7/3...Cleared waivers and outrighted to AAA Colorado Springs 7/9... Spent remainder of the season at Col. Springs...Did not allow a home run all season covering 67.2IP (in thin air of CS, CO)...Did not allow a run over 15 straight outings from 6/20-8/9, covering a span of 13.2IP...Allowed 4 runs in his season debut on April 3 at Oklahoma and proceeded to allow just 13 runs (11ER) the rest of the season covering 60G & 62.1IP...RH hitters hit .165 (30-182) off him and batters hit .171 (21-123) with runners on base.
2002
Led AAA Sacramento with 54 appearances, going 3-7 with a 4.31 ERA (71.0IP, 34 ER) and 6 saves...Walked 28 and struck out 63, averaging just under 8 K's per nine innings...Was 3-2 with a 2.25 ERA (40.0 IP, 10 ER) and 2 saves at home, but 0-5 with a 6.97 ERA (31.0 IP, 24 ER) and 4 saves on the road...Led the River Cats with 39 games finished...Worked at least one full inning in 51 of his 54 outings, going 2.0+ on 12 occasions with a seasonhigh 3.0 IP twice...After posting a 3.55 ERA (12.2 IP, 5 ER) in April and a 2.84 mark (19.0IP, 6ER) in May, the righty allowed 23 ER in his last 39.1 innings (5.26 ERA)...Yielded 10 of his runs over three games and 3.0 innings, 7/29-8/3...Recorded three of his four saves in a five-game stretch, 5/15-29.
2001
Spent the entire season at AAA Portland in the San Diego organization...Led the Beavers and ranked fifth in the Pacific Coast League with a career high 17 saves...The saves tied for third most in the Padres organization...Yielded just one home run in 44.2IP (5/10 at Tacoma)...Went 1-3 with 9 saves and a 1.07 ERA (3ER in 25.1IP) over his final 25 appearances...Included in that stretch, an 8-game scoreless streak from 6/5-18 (7.0IP, 2H, 10K)...Charged with his seventh loss on 7/7 against Edmonton and went on the DL two days later with tendonitis in his right elbow...Reinstated on 8/19 and appeared in just four more games.

With Texas' AAA Oklahoma affiliate, Matt led the club with 25 games finished while ranking second in appearances (39) and tied for third in saves (4)...Averaged 10.3 strikeouts per nine innings (69/60.1).
