2005

The player who signed with the Mets expressly for an opportunity to play for Willie Randolph prospered in his multifaceted role Randolph created, emerging as a late-inning, off-the-bench force and occasional starter at first and second base and in left field. Anderson batted .321 as a pinch-hitter. His 18 pinch-hits equaled the third-highest total in the Major Leagues. Only one of his seven home runs -- an inside-the-park homer that tied the score in the ninth inning -- came as a pinch-hitter. A potential free agent, he is likely to return.

2004

In his first year with the Cardinals, Anderson saw action mainly at second base and in the outfield, but also played two games at first. He was the team's top pinch-hitter, finishing the year with a .333 pinch-hit average. He tied for the NL lead with 17 pinch-hits and ranked sixth with 10 pinch-RBIs.

2003

Played 145 games (120 starts) for Tampa Bay and collected a career-high 67 RBI.

Batted .270 overall and his .341 average with runners in scoring position ranked eighth in the American League.
