Signed a minor league deal with the Pirates and spent the year at Triple-A Nashville, where he hit .258 with 17 homers and 43 RBI in 123 games...appeared in 81 games in right field, 34 in center field, 3 in left field, 7 at third base and one as DH...also appeared once on the mound, allowing one run on a hit, a walk and a wild pitch August 23 vs. Oklahoma...hit .297 (22-for-74) in 20 games in April, then batted .250 (85-for-340) in 103 games the rest of the way...was 4-for-6 with a pair of solo homers April 13 at Albuquerque.

2003

Was acquired by the Rockies from the Dodgers for outfielder Jason Romano January 27, and signed a major league contract with Colorado February 18...during the final week of Spring Training, was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs, where he went on to hit .274 with 21 doubles, 6 home runs and 45 RBI in 127 games...played 89 games in right field, 30 center and 4 in left, as well as 3 as DH...enjoyed the 2nd big league stint of his career, getting recalled July 12 and going hitless in a pair of pinch-hitting appearances before being optioned back to Colorado Springs July 18...after hitting .250 (21-for-84) in 24 April games, hit .329 (28-for-85) in 25 contests in May...had a season-best 12-game hitting streak July 3-22, when he batted .370 (17-for-46) with 9 runs scored...batted .325 (25-for-77) in 22 games in July before hitting at a .237 clip (23-for-97) in 28 games the rest of the way.

2002

In his 6th and final year in the Dodgers chain, made his major league debut as a September call-up after earning mid-season Pacific Coast League All-Star honors at Triple-A Las Vegas...ranked 6th in the PCL with a .329 average...was recalled September 9, and made his big league debut the next night at San Francisco...pinch hit for Kevin Brown in the 6th, and drew a walk...as a pinch hitter September 14 at Colorado, stroked a double off Kent Mercker for his first major league hit...made his lone big league start September 29 vs. San Diego, getting the nod in right field and going 0-for-4...in 6 games with the Dodgers, was 1-for-7 with 2 walks and 2 runs...in 41 games at Las Vegas May 22-July 2, hit .404 (65-for-161) with 7 homers, 31 RBI and 22 multi-hit games...went hitless in just 6 games during that stretch...hit safely in his final 8 contests at Las Vegas August 26-September 2, batting .414 (12-for-29) with 3 doubles, 2 homers, 11 RBI, 13 runs and 6 walks...had 53 multi-hit games overall.

2001

Played nearly the entire year at Double-A Jacksonville, where he was a mid-season and year-end Southern League All-Star...ranked 7th in the league and 2nd on the club with a .290 average...also ranked 2nd on the team with 73 RBI and 74 runs...was 5th in the league with 54 extra-base hits, while leading Dodgers farmhands with 33 doubles...was voted as having the Southern League's best outfield arm in Baseball America's annual Best Tools survey...hit safely in 7 straight games July 20-26 to earn Player of the Week honors leading up to his first taste of Triple-A July 28-August 2...batted .484 (15-for-31) with 6 RBI in those 7 games...went 2-for-9 with a double and a run scored in 2 starts for Las Vegas...hit .337 (30-for-89) with 16 RBI in 24 games upon returning to Jacksonville, where he batted .315 (112-for-355) against righthanders and .221 (29-for-131) against lefties overall...played 118 games in right field, 3 in center and 3 as DH.

Was rated as the No. 7 prospect in the Dodgers system by Baseball America...ranked 2nd on the Double-A San Antonio club with 60 RBI in just 90 games before going on the D.L. July 25 with a fractured right orbit bone and missing the remainder of the season...played 86 games at third base, 2 at first and 2 as DH...was rated as having the best infield arm in Baseball America's Best Tools survey for the 2nd year in a row...was 14-for-19 in stolen base attempts...hit safely in his first 7 games, batting .406 (13-for-32) with 13 RBI en route to hitting .360 (32-for-89) with 25 RBI in 22 games in April...had 39 RBI in his first 34 contests...batted .274 (72-for-263) against righthanders and .237 (18-for-76) against lefties...hit .329 (24-for-73) when leading off an inning.

In his first full season at the Double-A level, led his San Antonio squad with 137 games, 533 at-bats, 82 RBI and 90 runs as the every-day third baseman...led the Texas League with 12 triples, while ranking 4th with 151 hits...entered the season as the No. 5 prospect in the Dodgers chain according to Baseball America...hit .305 (101-for-331) against righties and .243 (49-for-202) against lefties...hit .321 (54-for-168) with men in scoring position and .350 (35-for-100) when leading off an inning...batted .315 (40-for-127) with 18 RBI over his final 32 games beginning August 1.

1998

Played in 105 games at Single-A San Bernardino before an August 1 promotion to Double-A San Antonio...finished 2nd among Dodgers minor leaguers with a combined 145 hits...led San Bernardino with a .298 average and ranked 2nd with 25 doubles...went on to hit .333 with 10 RBI in 23 Texas League games.

1997

Was a Pioneer League All-Star for Rookie-level Great Falls in his pro debut...hit .345 with 7 homers, 40 RBI and 50 runs in 67 games...had a league-best 22-game hitting streak July 7-21...was ranked by Baseball America as the league's No. 6 prospect.
