Kyle William McClellan...he and his wife, Bridget have a daughter, Olivia Grace (5/15/11)...lettered in baseball, football, and basketball at Hazelwood (MO) West High School (graduated 2002)...earned all-state honors as a pitcher and 1B as a junior and senior...his older brother Matt was his high school pitching coach...hobbies include hunting and fishing.
2012
Was limited to 16 relief outings due to elbow and shoulder injuries that ended his season on May 17...issued runs 7 times and permitted 5 of 16 1st batters to reach base...finished 6 games and had one hold...opposition batted .222, .200 (6-30) by LHB and .238 (10-42) vs. RHB...posted a 3.97 ERA (5 ER/11.1 IP) in 9 games at home but a 7.36 (6 ER/7.1 IP) mark in 7 road contests. Allowed 3 runs in 1.0 inning in his 1st game of the season on April 6 at MIL, then compiled a 0.82 ERA (1 ER/11.0 IP) over his next 9 outings to drop to 3.00 on May 2...had a 9.45 ERA (7 ER/6.2 IP) in final 6 games, issuing runs in 5 of those...last appearance was May 17 at SF...worked a season high 2.0 innings 3 times and fanned 2012 best 3 batters on April 13 vs. CHI...lost only decision on May 11 vs. ATL with last major league win coming on Sept. 16, 2011 at PHI...INJURIES: Was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 18 with a right elbow strain...injury did not require surgery and was moved to 60-day DL on June 30...felt pain in his right shoulder during a throwing session in early July...underwent surgery to repair a frayed labrum and split in right shoulder capsule on July 10 with Cardinals' orthopedist Dr. George Paletta performing the procedure...began throwing off the mound in January and reported early to the Rangers' spring camp in Arizona to continue rehab... was expected to be ready for the start of training camp.
2011
Was a starter for much of the season, making 17 starts (6-6, 4.21 ERA). Went 6-1 in 26 relief appearances. His six wins in relief were T5th in the National League...Moved to the bullpen after 7/27 trade for starter Edwin Jackson. Cards were 26-17 in games McClellan appeared...Started the season going 5-0, with the team winning his first seven games. In his final 11 starts, went 2-6 (team 3-8) as the Cards scored just seven runs in his six losses, including 2 shutouts and twice scoring just once...Nine of his 17 starts were quality starts. Pitched a career high 8.0 innings twice (5/8 & 5/19)...Allowed 13 home runs as a starter in 104.2 IP; gave up 8 HR's in relief (37.0 IP)...Struck out a season/career high seven in his first Major League start (4/5 vs. PIT)...In strategic move, came on in relief 4/22 vs. CIN after lengthy rain delay and worked 6.0 IP, gaining 4-2 win (Batista started game & walked lone batter faced before delay)...Was on the 15-day disabled list with a left hip strain from 5/31-6/14, missing 13 games...Allowed runs in only one of 11 relief outings in August, going 3-0 with a 1.06 ERA (2ER/17.0 IP)...Suffered his 1st blown save of the season on 8/19 at CHI, but pitched 1.2 scoreless innings...2011 POSTSEASON: Was only on active roster for the N. L. Championship Series after battling late-season arm fatigue following career-high 141.2 IP...made just one appearance and pitched 0.1 inning, allowing two hits and run, in Game 1 loss at Milwaukee.

Led all Cardinals pitchers and tied his career-high with 68 appearances, surpassing 60 appearances for a 3rd straight season...Led all Cardinals relievers for the second time out of three seasons with 23 Holds...Did not allow a run at home in first 20 appearances of the season (4/12-7/20) and was scored upon only twice in 34 total home appearances...Registered the lowest ERA in MLB for pitchers against NL Central opponents at 0.85 (3 er/31.2 ip) with a minimum of 20 IP, and held opponents to a .164 BA...Had an outstanding July compiling an 0.64 ERA in 14 innings (12 app.)...Worked best on short rest with a 1.06 ERA on 0 days rest (2 er/17 ip) in 13 app...Had solid reverse splits for the 3rd consecutive season, limiting opposing LH batters to a .204 BA (22-108) with two HR, ranking 7th among NL relievers...Ranked 11th among NL relievers with 75.1 IP, 16th in ERA at 2.27 and 20th in opponents BA at .210...Converted 2 of 3 save opportunities...Cardinals were 44-24 (.647) in games in which McClellan appeared...Had a season-best nine consecutive scoreless appearances from 6/30-7/21. 2007
Native St. Louisan made conversion from starter to reliever after undergoing Tommy John elbow surgery in 2005 and followup ulnar nerve surgery in 2006. Began the season at Palm Beach (A) and posted a 1.24 ERA in 16 games while fanning 24 batters in 29.0 IP. He worked a season-high 4.2 scoreless IP on 5/14 at St. Lucie Mets, earning his first win of the season. Earned promotion to Springfield (AA) in late June and continued to shine. Had a 2.35 ERA in 24 games with 30 strikeouts and just six walks in 30.2 IP. He allowed runs in just five of his 24 games and was unscored upon in his first 10 games (14.0 IP) following promotion. Combined for 54 strikeouts and just 10 walks in his 59.2 IP for the year and he allowed just two home runs all season. Finished 2nd among relief pitchers in runners/9 IP (8.80) and he was 4th in walks/9 IP (1.47). Took part in Arizona Fall League with Mesa Solar Sox and fanned 9 batters in 7.1 IP.
2006
Made three starts in 2006 for Johnson City before elbow stiffness resulted in surgery to transpose his ulnar nerve.
2005
In 2005 made seven starts (18 appearances) for Quad Cities and was credited with his first professional save...season was cut short by elbow injury that required Tommy John surgery.

Posted career highs for games (24) and innings pitched (128.0) at Peoria (A) during 2004...his 12 losses ranked 4th in the Midwest League.
