Full name KYLE DEAN DENNEY...Single...Resides in Prague, OK...Attended Oklahoma University where played baseball for two seasons...Played one year at Seminole Junior College (OK)...Attended Prague High School where he played football, basketball and baseball...Enjoys golfing, fishing and hunting in the off-season.

Denney spent the entire 2004 minor league season in AAA Buffalo, where he was 10-5 with a 4.41 ERA in 24 starts 134.2IP, 134H, 66ER, 39BB, 113K, 17HR)...Finished tied for the team lead in wins and led the team in innings pitched, starts & strikeouts...After the season was named as the 2004 Warren Spahn Award winner as the team's most valuable pitcher after finishing T8th in the IL in wins and 6th in SO. Got off to a terrific start, winning 7 of his first 8 decisions thru July 9th as he went 3-0 w/a 2.16 ERA in 4 April starts (25.0IP, 19H, 6R/ER, 6BB, 25K) and 1-1 with a 2.84 ERA in 3 May starts (19.0IP, 15H, 6ER, 18K)...Fanned season-high 10 in his first start of the year on April 10th at Pawtucket in just 6.0 innings of work (6.0IP, 3H, 0R, 1BB, 10K) and tossed a complete game, 9.0 inning 4-hit shutout on May 9th at Toledo (9.0IP, 4H, 0R, 0BB, 8K)... Was on the disabled list at Buffalo from May 16 to June 2 with a left knee sprain, which he suffered at Columbus on May 15 fielding a ground ball...After his DL stint he went 3-0 w/a 4.26 ERA in 6 June starts (31.2IP, 31H, 15ER, 28K) before struggling to regain his April/May form in July (1-1, 6.33ERA, 4 starts). Took a no-hitter into the 9th inning in his start of August 14 vs. Ottawa in a 2-1, 10.0 inning win for the Bisons he allowed just 1 hit over 8.2 innings (ND, 8.2IP, 1H, 1R/0ER, 2BB, 8K)...Followed that up with his 9th win of the season on August 19th at Pawtucket, allowing just 1 run (1HR) and 3 hits over 7.0 innings to improve to 9- on the year...Threw game 1 of the International League playoffs for Buffalo against Durham on Sept. 8, a toughluck 2-1 loss to the Bulls despite pitching well...6.1IP, 7H, 2R/1ER, 2BB, 1K, HR...International League hitters hit .260 (134-515) off him with 17HR allowed ...RH hitters hit .238 (74-311, 11HR) & LHH hit .270 (60-222, 6HR)... Batters hit .252 (56-222) off him with runners on base, .203 (28-138) with RISP and .148 (8-54) with RISP-2outs. Contract was purchased from AAA Buffalo on September 14th and made his major league debut that night against the Detroit Tigers...Fell to 0-1 in his debut, allowing 8 runs in just 3.1 innings in an 11-3 win for the Tigers and Jeremy Bonderman in what turned out to be his shortest start (3.1IP, 10H, 8R/ER, 2BB, 1K). Earned his 1st Major League victory in the Indians 8-3 win over the Kansas City Royals in his start of Sunday, Sept. 19th in Jacobs Field...5.0 IP, 6H, 1R/ER, 1BB, 6K, HR to Stairs in the 2nd inning... Was tagged for 8 hits and 6 runs in 3.2IP in a losing effort in 3rd ML start of September 24 vs. Minnesota (8-2 win for the Twins and Johan Santana's 20th win). Battled thru 4.0IP in his last start of Sept. 29 at Kansas City, getting a no decision in the Tribe's 5-2 win (8H, 2R/ ER, 3BB, 2K)...After the game suffered a gunshot wound to the leg after a bullet was randomly shot at the team bus...Was hit in the right calf and taken to a KC hospital where he was x-rayed (negative) and had the wound cleaned and bandaged...Joined the team the following day in Minneapolis and did not pitch again the remainder of the season (last scheduled start/appearance was Sept. 29)...Major League hitters hit .421 (32-76) with 3HR allowed (.645 slg %, .471 on-base)...Batters hit .400 (16-40) w/runners on and .346 (9-26) with RISP (5-13 w/ RISP-2outs, 0 for 5 w/the bases loaded).
