Battled back from a July 2012 season-ending knee injury to play the entire season at Class AAA Louisville, where he led the club in starts at shortstop (69)...overall played 73g at SS, 22g in the OF, 12g at 3B, 7g at 2B and 1g at 1B...hit a grand slam on 4/30 vs Lehigh Valley...as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the ninth inning of the 3-2 win vs Indianapolis on 7/11 produced a bases-loaded, walkoff RBI-single...on 7/25 at Syracuse made his only career start at first base...played for Caguas in the Puerto Rican Winter League (24g, .211, 4 2b, 2 3b, 8rbi, 3sb).

On 7/5 suffered a season-ending knee injury while playing at Louisville...on 7/10 had surgery
to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament and medial meniscus in his right knee...spent most of the season at
Louisville but made 4 apps during his only stint with the Reds (6/6-6/17)...in the ninth inning of the 10-inning,
5-4 loss on 6/7 vs Pit made his Major League debut as a pinch runner...as a pinch hitter on 6/14 vs Cle singled
off Scott Barnes for his first career hit and then played CF in his first career appearance on defense...originally
was recalled from Lousiville on 6/6, when IF Mike Costanzo was optioned...returned to Louisville after Scott
Rolen came off the disabled list and played there until he was injured...overall for the Bats played 2B (15g),
3B (18g), SS (21g), CF (18g), LF (3g) and RF (3g)...on 8/31 came off Louisville's disabled list, was recalled
and placed on the Reds' 15-day disabled list...on 11/30 was non-tendered but agreed to a minor league
