11-year professional enters 2nd year in San Francisco organization as non-roster invitee to Spring Training...29-year-old left-hander saw big league action with San Diego in 2002, going 0-2 with 6.00 ERA in 16 games (4 starts)...has compiled 55-65 lifetime mark with 3 saves and 4.62 ERA in 209 career minor league games (159 starts)...originally Pittsburgh's 2nd round selection in 1993 First Year Player Draft, spent 8 seasons in Pirates chain before logging 2001 campaign with Sonoma County of independent Western Baseball League...after single season with Padres organization, signed minor league free agent deal with Giants Dec. 26, 2002. Split season between San Diego and triple-A Portland...began campaign in minors, but had contract purchased by Padres May 16...made ML debut that day vs. Mets, retiring only batter faced in relief...earned 1st big league start May 25 at Milwaukee and suffered loss, allowing game's only 2 runs over his 4.0-inning effort...fashioned 2.25 ERA (2er, 8.0ip) in his 1st 5 outings (1 start), but was touched for 7.36 mark (18er, 22.0ip) over his final 11 appearances (3 starts)...was outrighted to Portland July 24 and spent remainder of season with Beavers.

Pitched for Sonoma County of independent Western Baseball League after being released by Pittsburgh April 16...in 9 starts for Crushers, was 3-5 with 8.29 ERA (35er, 38.0ip).
