Kenneth Eugene Harvey...1996 graduate of Beverly Hills (CA) High School...2000 graduate of the University of Nebraska where he led the nation in batting (.457) his senior year...named First Team All-American by *Baseball America* in 1999, was a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award and named Easton Redline College Defensive Player of the Year.

Missed the entire season recovering from surgery to repair a reptured Achilles' Tendon.

2005

A back problem cost Harvey, a 2004 All-Star, most of last season. Now he's reported healthy and his history of hot hitting is a plus. First base, though, is a crowded position.

Played his first full-season at the Major League level after making the Opening Day roster...hit .266 (129-for-485) in 135 games...had 30 doubles, 13 homers and 64 rbi...hit a team-best .333 (52-for-156) off left-handed pitchers, ranking 6th among A.L. hitters...was tied for third on the team in doubles and finished four doubles shy of breaking the club rookie record of 33 held by Kevin Seitzer (1987) and Mark Quinn (2000)... hit his first Major League home run off Brian Anderson at Cleveland on April 14...hit a walkoff, game-winning home run on April 18 against Detroit...it came in the bottom of the 11th inning on a 0-2 pitch from Tiger closer Matt Anderson...recorded a three-run home run at Toronto in the ninth to give KC a 9-6 victory on April 26...of his first five home runs, four were game winners...finished the season tied for sixth in M.L. history for game-winning rbi (10) by rookie first basemen...finished five shy of the record held by Eddie Murray (1977 Orioles)...left the game vs. Arizona on June 11 in the fifth inning when he dove over the tarp for a foul ball and landed awkwardly on his neck...had a career-high four hits and five rbi on June 17 against Minnesota, including three doubles and a pair of hits in the sixth inning.

2002

Spent the year at Triple-A Omaha where he hit .277 with 20 home runs...had an eight game hitting streak where he hit .419 from May 3-12...finished the season on a season-long 11 game hitting streak...during the stretch he hit .333 (15-for-45)...hit .309 on the road and posted a .333 average in August...appeared in 110 games at first base and 17 as designated hitter...was honored with the inaugural Joe Black Award as the Arizona Fall League MVP following the 2002 season...shattered league records for batting average (.479), slugging percentage (.752) and on-base percentage (.537)...also had a league record 18-game hitting streak.

2001

Split the season between Single-A, Double-A and the Royals...led all Royals Minor Leaguers with a combined .350 batting average...ranked second with 90 RBI...led the Wranglers to the Texas League playoffs after hitting a team-best .338 in 79 games...had his contract selected from Double-A Wichita on September 18...made his Major League debut at Cleveland that same day and went 0-for-4 as the starting designated hitter... recorded his first Major League hit at Chicago on Sept. 23 off Mark Buehrle...appeared in four games for Kansas City, batting .250 (3-for-12) with two rbi...left the September 29 game vs. Chicago after two innings with an aggravated right big toe and did not play for the remainder of the season...had a bone chip surgically removed in the same foot during the offseason.
