In his second season in the Braves organization, spent the season with the Double-A Mississippi Braves, logging 35 appearances out of the bullpen, going 2-5 with a 4.07 ERA. Opened the season on Lynchburg's (High-A) roster, but spent the first six weeks of the season, from 4/5- 5/12, on the disabled list with right forearm tightness. Transferred to Mississippi on 5/12. First appearance of the season came 5/13 vs. Huntsville (1.0 IP, 1 BB, 1 K). Had a second stint on the disabled list, from 7/9 (retroactive 7/4) to 7/20, with right shoulder tendinitis. Logged 70 strikeouts in 42.0 innings, for an average of 15.0 strikeouts per 9.0 innings pitched. Posted a 1.23 ERA (22.0 IP/3 ER) through his first 15 appearances of the season. Logged 39 strikeouts in 22.0 IP while holding opposing batters to a .159 batting average in that span. In two seasons in the Braves organization, has logged 143 strikeouts in 93.1 innings pitched, for an average of 13.8 strikeouts per 9.0 IP, while holding opponents to a .186 batting average and converting 18 of 20 save opportunities. Named by Baseball America as the Braves' 20th-best prospect entering the 2013 season. The hard-throwing right-hander went a perfect 18-for-18 in save opportunities at Lynchburg (A), leading all Braves farmhands and ranking second in the Carolina League. Made eight straight appearances without allowing a run from 6/12-7/5, striking out 11 in 10.2 innings pitched in that span. Posted a 1.64 ERA (2 ER/11 IP) with six saves in the month of June. Held opposing hitters to a .173 batting average and struck out 73 batters in 51.1 innings pitched (12.9 K/9)
