Established career highs in almost every offensive category, including apps (113) and HR (9)...entered the season with 11 career homers (444g, 980ab)...hit .261 after the All-Star break...hit .300 with RISP...began the season on the 15-day disabled list while recovering from 10/1/02 arthroscopic surgery to clean out his left knee...began the season on rehab at Louisville and made 9 apps there before he was reinstated on 4/14, when Barry Larkin went on the disabled list...made 83 starts, including 45gs at 2B, 20 starts at 3B and 18 starts at SS...at the end of the season was bothered by a stiff lower back and a sore right knee...went hitless in his last 13ab, dropping his batting average from .264 to season-ending .253...did not start after 9/20 and made only 3 other apps, all as a defensive replacement...on 9/7 at StL singled to lead off the seventh inning and break up Matt Morris' no-hit bid.

Established career highs in games (96), at bats (242) and runs (27) and for the second straight season tied his career high in hits (54)...was one of the Reds' most versatile infielders...made 57 starts at 4 positions (29gs at SS, 19gs at 2b, 8gs at 3b, 1gs at 1b)...on 5/8 at Ari, in his first career appearance and first career start at first base, was Randy Johnson's 20th strikeout victim...on 5/24 at Cubs recorded the Reds' only hit in Jon Lieber's 3-0 victory, a single with 1 out in the sixth inning...was the Reds' only baserunner (single, walk) in a game completed in 1 hour, 48 minutes...in his last 6g finished with a season-high 0-for-15 skid, dropping BA from .238 to season-ending .223...committed his first error on 5/19 at Hou, in his 22nd appeaerance, snapping an errorless streak of 48 consecutive games dating back to the 2000 season...on 8/10 vs Col had 2 errors in a game for the only time in his career...committed both errors in the fourth inning of that 16-7 loss, leading to 4 unearned runs.

At LA hit .197 in 70g...was recalled from Albuquerque on 4/21 and played in 11g before he was optioned out on 5/13...was recalled again on 5/22 and spent the rest of the season with the Dodgers...on 6/15 at Atl started a triple play when he made an over-the-head catch on a ball hit by Chipper Jones, threw to Delino DeShields to get Marquis Grissom at second base and DeShields threw to Eric Karros to get Mark Lemke at first base...was LA's first triple play since 4/26/48, when Eugene Hermanski, Jackie Robinson and Gil Hodges accomplished the feat...made 26 starts at SS, including 23 straight from 5/26-6/19, when Greg Gagne was out with an ankle injury...in the ninth inning on 6/23 vs Hou played LF for the first time in his career and had 2 putouts.
1995
Was recalled on 9/1 and hit .250 in 11g for the Dodgers...made his Major League debut on 9/2 vs Mtl, entered the game as a defensive replacement at third base in the ninth inning...reached on a fielder's choice in his first Major League plate appearance on 9/3 vs Mtl...made his first Major League start on 10/1 at SD, played SS and collected his first career hit with a fourth-inning single off Andy Ashby.
