Joshua Smith (Josh) Fogg was a 1995 graduate of Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL...Played collegiate baseball at the University of Florida...Earned first team All-American honors as a closer during his junior season in 1998...Also was a first team All-Southeastern Conference selection...Left Florida ranking second in school history in appearances (103), tied for second in saves (22) and seventh in strikeouts (236)...Posted a 7-2 record, with 114 strikeouts and a 2.03 ERA with 13 saves as a senior in 1998...Had a 1.86 ERA at the 1998 College World Series.
2009
Used as a reliever for the first time in his career...Had at least 26 starts in six straight seasons from 2002-2007...Made 14 starts in 2008...Began the season with Colorado Springs (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League... Started eight games before his contract was purchased by the Rockies on May 25th...Served as Colorado's primary long reliever...Hurled a scoreless inning in his season debut, May 25th vs. the Dodgers...Worked four consecutive scoreless appearances (5.1 innings) to begin the year, including 2.1 innings, May 30th vs. San Diego in an 8-7 win...From June 14th-July 18th, he allowed two runs in 11.1 innings (seven games) for an ERA of 1.59 over that stretch...Worked a season-high 4.1 innings vs. Pittsburgh on August 11th...Pitched 3.0 or more innings seven times during the season...Made his only start of the season, August 26th vs. the Dodgers...Went 3.0 innings and lost, 6-1...Had a 2.74 ERA out of the bullpen (13 earned runs/42.2 innings).
2008
Injuries disrupted his season...Went on the Disabled List, June 1st- July 4th, with lumbar back spasms...Did not pitch after September 4th because of a strained right groin.
2007
Won 10 or more games for the fifth time in six seasons...Made his lone relief appearance, April 16th vs. San Francisco, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings...Took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, May 11th vs. San Francisco...Allowed a leadoff double to Daniel Ortmeier...Started the Wild Card tiebreaker, October 1st vs. San Diego...Had a nodecision. POSTSEASON: Pitched in three postseason games and went 2-1 with a 5.91 ERA...Came out of the bullpen and picked up the win in Game Two of the NLDS, then started and won Game Three of the NLCS...Took the loss in Game Three of the World Series.
2006
Signed just before the start of spring training, Fogg was a member of the Rockies' rotation for the entire season...recorded 11 wins, second-most among any Rox pitcher...went 11-9 with a 5.49 ERA (172.0 ip, 105 er) in 31 games/starts for Colorado...joined Jeff Francis as the only Rockies starters with winning records in 2006, as Fogg's .550 winning pct. was a career high...averaged 6.44 runs of support per nine innings, the 2nd-highest figure among N.L. pitchers behind only Mets' Steve Trachsel (6.61)...Fogg threw his first career shutout on June 30 at Seattle, becoming the first Rockie ever to face the minimum 27 batters in a game (see below)...it was his third season with 30+ starts...the victory total matched second-most in his career while his 93 K's was second to only 113 strikeouts in 2002...ranked among team leaders in wins (2nd), starts (4th), innings (4th), and quality starts (4th, 14)...ranked 5th on club with nine losses and allowed 24 home runs, most against a Rockie pitcher in '06...at the plate, ranked T5th in both the N.L. and majors with 15 sacrifice bunts, most ever in a season by a Rox pitcher...in fact, Fogg pinch-hit twice in '06...pinch-hit on Aug. 5 at San Francisco, laying down sacrifice bunt in 11th inning to advance runner in Rox' 2-1 victory...Fogg also struck out as pinch-hitter in 13th inning on Aug. 15 vs. Arizona, an eventual 2-1 Rockies loss in 18 innings...club was 16-15 in his 31 starts...tossed 6.0 or more innings on 15 occasions, throwing 7.0+ frames five times...went 7-5, 4.44 (99.1 ip, 49 er) in 17 starts before the All-Star break, and 4-4, 6.94 (72.2 ip, 56 er) in 14 games after the break...bookended the club's first road trip of the year with wins in his first two starts as a Rockie, April 7 at San Diego and April 13 at Arizona...bullpen was charged with just three total runs in Fogg's five April starts, as he allowed just one home run the entire month...took no decision on May 9 at St. Louis despite allowing one run in 7.0 innings while out-dueling Chris Carpenter...took a no decision May 15 vs. Los Angeles despite allowing two runs in 6.0 innings...lost on June 2 vs. Florida despite quality start in matchup with Dontrelle Willis...starts June 18 at St. Louis and June 24 vs. Texas were both delayed by rain...won three straight starts June 24-July 5, matching most consecutive winning starts in his career...also had an RBI single July 5 vs. San Francisco, snapping an 0-for-39 drought at the plate, his first hit since July 31, 2005 at Atlanta...took loss Aug. 1 vs. Milwaukee in Rockies' 1-0 defeat, only run scoring on Damian Miller's 2-out RBI single in the seventh inning...won final two starts, Sept. 22 vs. Atlanta and Sept. 29 at Chicago-NL, besting Tim Hudson and Carlos Zambrano in consecutive outings to end the year.
2005
Established a career high in appearances (34) in his fourth full season with Pittsburgh...went 6-10 with a 4.97 ERA in 28 starts and 0-1, 7.11 in six relief appearances...ranked 3rd on Pirates staff in starts and innings (169.1)...posted a 2.45 ERA (18.1 ip, 15 er) in first three starts...missed scheduled start on April 24 due to an inner ear infection...returned to action on May 2 at Houston and lost an 11-4 decision to Andy Pettitte...started on three days rest for second time in career and won a 7-2 decision over Noah Lowry on May 11 at San Francisco...was in line for win but came away with no decision on May 17 vs. Chicago-NL when Jose Mesa suffered his first blown save of the year...went 1-0 with five no decisions from May 27-June 22...win on July 26 at Florida was his first since also beating the Marlins on June 1 in Pittsburgh...left game on Sept. 8 vs. Arizona (5.1 ip) after being struck on right wrist by Chad Tracy line drive...made final six appearances from the bullpen...outing on Sept. 13 at St. Louis was his first relief appearance since Oct. 6, 2001 while with the White Sox...Pirates went 9-19 in his 28 starts...Pittsburgh did not tender a contract prior to the Dec. 20 deadline, making him a free agent.
2004
Won 10 or more games for the 3rd straight season, the first Pirate to do so since Jason Schmidt from 1997-1999...went 0-4 with a 9.00 ERA (23.0 ip, 23 er) in his first 5 starts, but 11-6 with a 4.00 ERA (155.1 ip, 69 er) through remainder of season...allowed just 6 HR over his final 18 outings (106.2 ip)...picked up first win on May 15 at San Francisco after allowing 2 runs in 5.2 innings of work...allowed 3 earned runs or less in 10 straight starts from June 27-Aug. 15...went 3-2 with a 2.27 ERA during the month of August, the 2nd-best ERA among NL hurlers (minimum 30.0 ip) during month behind San Diego's Jake Peavy (2.03)...tossed 6.0 innings in a combined shutout (3-0) over Colorado's Joe Kennedy on Aug. 15...won a 2-1 decision over Arizona's Randy Johnson in a 1:47 contest at PNC Park on Aug. 25...tossed 6.2 scoreless innings in next outing to win 2nd straight start Aug. 30 at Milwaukee...did not yield a home run in 7 straight starts (39.1 ip) from Aug. 15-Sept. 14...doubled off Cubs' Matt Clement on Sept. 14 at Wrigley Field for first career extra base hit...made 100th ML appearance Sept. 21 at Chicago-NL...went 2-1 with a 2.22 ERA (24.1 ip, 6 er) in final 4 starts...Pirates went 15-17 in his 32 starts.
2003
Led all major league pitchers with 5 wins in spring training...was the starting pitcher in 3 of Pittsburgh's 10 shutouts...allowed a first-inning 2-run homer to Cubs' Sammy Sosa and did not return after straining his left oblique muscle in Pittsburgh's 8-2 win on April 20...sustained the injury after swinging at a changeup in the dirt against Tom Glavine on April 15...was placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 21...made 2 rehab starts for Nashville and was recalled from his rehab assignment on May 24...reinstated from the DL on May 26 and won his start that day at Chicago-NL...matched his career high by winning 3 straight decisions from June 14-July 3...tossed his first big league complete game while fanning 9 batters in 9-1 win on Sept. 8 at Cincinnati (10 h, 1 r-er)...Pirates went 14-12 in his 26 starts.
2002
Spent entire season with Pittsburgh, going 12-12, 4.35 in 33 games/starts...led all National League rookies in starts and innings pitched (194.1), also ranking T4th in wins and strikeouts (113), establishing career highs in each of those 4 categories...set a Pirates rookie record for most starts in a season (since 1900); previous record of 32 was shared by Don Robinson (1978) and Steve Cooke (1993)...his 12 victories were the most by a Bucs rookie since Mike Dunne went 13-6 in 1987...tossed 7.0 scoreless innings and picked up his first ML win in first ML start on April 6 at Chicago-NL...also collected first RBI in that contest (groundout off Matt Clement)...improved record to 3-0 with a win on April 25 vs. Los Angeles...also singled off Hideo Nomo for his first major league hit in that game...compiled a 1.46 ERA (24.2 ip, 4 er) in 4 starts during the month of April...was charged with first ML loss on May 1 at Colorado (6.0 ip, 9 h, 4 er)...went 5-1, 2.36 over first 8 starts through May 16...posted career-best 10 strikeouts in loss Aug. 16 vs. Milwaukee...tossed 6.0 scoreless frames and won 12th and final game Sept. 7 vs. Florida...went 1-5, 5.22 in his last 9 starts...Pirates went 18-15 in his 33 starts...was used as a pinch-runner on May 7 at Arizona and scored first big league run on a Jason Kendall home run.
2001
Spent full season with Charlotte, White Sox' Triple-A affiliate, going 2-3 with a 5.90 ERA (29.0 ip/19 er) in 24 relief appearances and 2-4, 4.41 (85.2 ip, 42 er) in 16 starts...ranked 3rd on club in both innings pitched and strikeouts...notched first pro save April 9 vs. Richmond...made first Triple-A start June 7 vs. Syracuse, taking no decision...was recalled by Sox prior to the game on July 26 at Cleveland, but did not make an appearance...optioned back following the game...tossed season-high 8.0 innings on Aug. 13 vs. Toledo...recalled by Sox on Sept. 2 and made major league debut that afternoon vs. Cleveland...tossed 1.1 scoreless frames with 4 K's in his debut...allowed a run just once in his first 9 ML games (8.2 ip, 2 er) and just twice in his 11 outings overall...tossed career-high 3.1 innings of relief on Oct. 2 at New York-AL.
2000
Spent entire season with Birmingham (AA)...led Southern League in innings pitched (192.1) and ranked T3rd with 11 wins...ranked 3rd among all minor league pitchers in innings pitched and 12th in ERA (2.67)...went 3-0 with a 1.83 ERA (44.1 ip, 9 er) in 6 starts in May...won six straight decisions and posted a 2.08 ERA from April 27-June 15...named to midseason All-Star team...tossed 9.0-inning complete game in win on July 14 vs. Huntsville and 7.0-inning complete game in loss July 31 vs. West Tenn (G1)...went 3-1 with a 1.90 ERA (42.2 ip, 9 er) in final 6 starts...ranked by

Was a spring training non-roster invitee with the White Sox...combined to go 13-7 with a 3.98 ERA (158.1 ip, 70 er) and 149 strikeouts in 27 games/starts with Winston-Salem (A) and Birmingham (AA)...shared organizational lead in wins and ranked 2nd in strikeouts and 3rd in starts...began season with Winston-Salem, where he averaged 9.5 strikeouts per 9 IP...posted an 0.39 ERA (23.0 ip, 1 er) from May 29-June 9...posted 10 or more strikeouts in 3 straight outings from June 3-15...tossed three-hit shutout with 11 K's on June 9 at Kinston...was leading the Carolina League with 109 strikeouts and was 3rd in ERA at the time of his promotion to Birmingham on July 15...won first 2 Double-A starts.
