Jose Carlos Flores...wife's name is Carolina...graduated from Louis D. Brandeis High School in New York in 1991...attended the University of Texas...was originally selected by the Phillies in the 34th round of the June 1994 First-Year Player Draft.

Spent the entire season at AAA Las Vegas where he finished 7th in the entire Pacific Coast League with a .336 batting average (110-327)...Appeared in 74 games at shortstop and 7 game at second base...Hit in 10 straight games, July 21- 31...From July 1 thru the end of the season he hit .360 (62-172) with 4 2B, 3HR & 26RBI...Hit .339 (76-224) off RHP and .330 (34-103) off LHP...Hit lead-off in 35 games (.328, 42-128)...Hit .375 (42-112) batting second, .365 (42-115) with runners on and .356 (26-73) w/RISP...89 of his 110 hits were singles...Played winter ball in Puerto Rico.

Was acquired by the Dodgers from the Oakland Athletics for cash considerations on March 11...spent the entire season at Triple-A Las Vegas prior to a callup to the Major Leagues on Sept. 7, when he had his contract purchased...batted .313 with seven homers and 51 RBI and a .407 on-base percentage in 99 games for the 51s...appeared at second base, third base, shortstop for Las Vegas...went 1-for-4 for the Dodgers, including his first Major League hit, a single off Jason Schmidt...made his Dodger debut on Sept. 15 vs. San Diego, entering the game as a pinch-runner for Olmedo Saenz in the ninth inning...for Las Vegas, batted .343 in May, .355 in June, .302 in July and .301 in August.
