Began the 2017 season in the New York Yankees organization before being acquired by the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 17...Appeared in a career-high 24 games in three stints with the Pirates...Made his Pirates debut on April 28 at Miami, retiring six of the seven batters he faced in 2.0 scoreless innings...also made his first Major League plate appearance in the game and flew out...Pitched in 10 games, including two starts, with Triple A Indianapolis in July, going 0-1 with three saves, a 1.80 ERA (15.0IP/3ER) and 14 strikeouts...Did not allow a run in his final eight appearances of the season with Pittsburgh from August 24-October 1, a stretch that lasted 5.1 innings.

Made his first career Opening Day roster and went 1-2 with a 7.62 ERA (13.0IP, 11ER) in 13 relief appearances over two stints with the Yankees (4/4-5/9 and 8/4-5)…retired 7-of-13 first batters faced (53.8%)…did not allow any of his five inherited runners to score. Recorded scoreless appearances with multiple strikeouts in five of his first 10 Major League games (4/5-5/3)…the only Yankees pitcher with more such outings in his first 10 career appearances as a reliever was Joba Chamberlain (six). Made his Major League debut in 4/5 Opening Day loss vs. Houston, recording 3K in 1.1IP (1HP)…struck out Marwin Gonzalez (swinging) for his first career strikeout…became the fourth Yankees pitcher (since 1913) to strike out at least three batters, while also not allowing a hit or walk, in his Major League debut, joining Alfredo Aceves (2.0IP, 3K on 8/31/08 vs. Toronto), Edwar Ramirez (1.0IP, 3K on 7/3/07 vs. Minnesota) and Stan Bahnsen (2.0IP, 4K on 9/9/66 at Boston)…was the first Major Leaguer to do so since Pirates RHP John Holdzkom on 9/2/14 at St. Louis and the first AL hurler since Angels LHP Michael Roth on 4/13/13 vs. Houston. Had a 7.0-inning career-opening scoreless streak (2H, 0R, 2BB, 10K, 1HP) snapped in the 11th inning on 4/19 vs. Oakland…became the first Yankees pitcher since 1913 to throw at least 1.0 scoreless inning and allow 1H-or-fewer and 1BB-or-fewer in each of his first five Major League appearances (4/5-16)…was the fourth Yankees pitcher since 1913 to throw at least 1.0 scoreless inning and allow no more than one base runner (H/BB/HP) in each of his first three Major League appearances, joining Phil Coke (2008), Norm Branch (1941) and Walt Smallwood (1917-19). In 31 games (one start) with the RailRiders, went 3-2 with three saves and a 2.61 ERA (48.1IP, 14ER). In 11 spring training relief appearances, went 0-1 with two saves and a 1.64 ERA (11.0IP, 2ER, 1BB, 13K)…was named the 2016 James P. Dawson Award winner, presented annually to the most outstanding Yankees rookie in spring training.

Split the season between Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, combining to go 6-2 with three saves, a 2.67 ERA (67.1IP, 20ER) and 70K in 40 relief appearances...In 14 games with Scranton/WB, went 4-0 with three saves and a 0.36 ERA (25.0IP, 1ER, 26K)...Was added to the Yankees' 40-man roster on 11/20/15.

Spent the entire season with Double-A San Antonio, going 2-2 with 16 saves, a 2.87 ERA (31.1IP, 10ER) and 33K in 27 relief appearances…opponents batted .226 (26-for-115)…did not allow an extra-base hit to a lefthanded hitter, holding them to a .196 (10-for-51) average...Was named to the Texas League Mid-Season All-Star Team…tied for second in the Texas League in saves, converting each of his final 11 opportunities and 16-of-18 overall...Held opponents scoreless over a 15-outing stretch from 4/24-5/27 (16.1IP) and 22 of his 27 appearances overall...Was placed on the minor league disabled list on 6/11, missing the remainder of the season.

Went 3-6 with 14 saves and a 5.01 ERA (88.0IP, 49ER, 89K) in 49 games (seven starts) with Single-A Lake Elsinore…led the team and tied for fourth in the California League in saves...Was named California League "Pitcher of the Week" on 8/20 after tossing 6.0 scoreless innings (3H, 7K) in his start at Rancho Cucamonga on 8/17.

Spent the entire season with Single-A Fort Wayne, going 6-1 with three saves and a 1.84 ERA (73.1IP, 15ER, 84K) in 48 relief appearances…did not allow an earned run in 38 of his appearances…held opponents to a .195 (52-for-266) average, the third-lowest mark among Midwest League relievers…tied for first on the team and tied for fourth in the league in games pitched…ranked fifth among league relievers with a 10.31 K/9.0IP ratio...Was named Midwest League "Pitcher of the Week" on 7/23 after tossing 5.0 hitless innings with 7K in three relief appearances from 7/16-23.
