Bowker...Is a graduate of Rio Americana (CA) High School in Sacramento...Was named an all-league in three sports after lettering three years in baseball, two seasons in football and one in basketball...Established school single-season records for average (.463), hits (41), home runs (8) and RBI (41)...Attended Long Beach State University, where he hit .323 over two years before entering the draft following his sophomore campaign...Was named a first-team All-Big West after leading the 49ers to the NCAA Super Regional in 2004.

Made PIT's Opening Day roster...Designated for assignment on 4/28 and outrighted to Indianapolis (AAA)...Traded to Philadelphia on 8/31...Was leading Indianapolis in HR (15) and RBI (76) at the time of the trade...Made 1 start: 9/22 vs WSH (RF).

Was one of top NL rookies in 2008, making his ML debut and batting .255 (83-for-326) with 31 runs, 14 2Bs, 3 3Bs, 10 HRs and 43 RBI in 111 games for San Francisco...ranked among NL rookie leaders in avg. (10th), HRs (T4th), hits (9th), 3Bs (T4th), RBI (6th), total bases (T7th - 133), multi-hit games (T9th - 18), extra base hits (7th - 27) and slugging pct. (6th - .408)... began year with triple-A club, but was recalled April 12 and had fantastic 1st Half, batting .274 (64-for-234) with 9 HRs and 38 RBI in 75 contests...his 9 HRs at All-Star Break led team, becoming 1st rookie to pace club in HRs at Break since Dave Kingman in 1972 (21)...his 38 RBI were also tied for 4th-most by SF rookie prior to Break (Dave Kingman tops list with 58 in '72) and his .274 avg. ranked as 6th-highest mark by rookie before Break in SF history (Gary Matthews is 1st with .316 clip in 1973)...had smashing debut April 12 vs. St. Louis, starting in RF and going 2-for-3 with HR and 3 RBI...with HR off Todd Wellemeyer, became 8th SF Giant to homer in his ML debut, joining: Orlando Cepeda (1958), Bobby Bonds (1968), John Montefusco (1974), Johnnie LeMaster (1975), Will Clark (1986), Randy Kutcher (1986) and Eliezer Alfonzo (2006)...clubbed 2nd career HR in 2nd ML start April 13 vs. Cardinals, going 2-for-3 with HR and 4 RBI...became only Giant in San Francisco and New York history to homer in his first 2 ML games...had 7 RBI in his 1st 2 big league contests, marking most by player since St. Louis' Joe Cunningham accomplished feat June 30-July 1, 1954...had his 3rd consecutive multi-hit game April 15 vs. Arizona, adding his 1st career 3B in contest...became 1st Giant player with 3 consecutive multi-hit games to start career since Mike Schemer had 2 or more hits in each of his 1st 4 contests in August 1945...in his 1st 3 games, was 7-for-13 (.538)...was 1st baseman for 5-4-3 triple play May 30 vs. San Diego...slugged 1st career grand slam June 2 at Washington (off Luis Ayala), while establishing career-high with 4 RBI...slugged 9th HR July 2 vs. Chicago, 2-run shot in 6th inning...blast was his 1st career "Splash Hit"...appeared in 96 games for SF initial time up (78 starts - 66 at 1B, 9 in RF, 1 in LF and 2 as DH) before being optioned to triple-A Fresno Aug. 13 after hitting just .135 (10-for-74) over his previous 23 contests...was recalled for final time Sept. 2, and batted .346 (9-for-26) over his final 15 games...in 23 games for Grizzlies, batted .237 (22-for-93) with 2 HRs and 9 RBI.

Enjoyed stellar season with Connecticut, setting career highs with .307 avg., 139 games, 79 runs, 160 hits, 35 2Bs, 6 3Bs (tied), 22 HRs and 90 RBI...ranked 3rd among Giants farmhands for both HRs and RBI, while HR total was best mark in history of Defenders franchise...was named to Eastern League's mid- and post-season All-Star squads, while placing among circuit's leaders in avg. (8th), hits (2nd), 2Bs (T5th), 3Bs (T5th), HRs (T5th), RBI (3rd), extra-base hits (T1st, 63) and slugging pct. (3rd, .523).

Spent majority of season with single-A San Jose, while logging 2-game cameo with triple-A Fresno...batted .284 with 32 2Bs, career-best 6 3Bs, 13 HRs and 67 RBI in 112 California League contests...had pair of singles in 4 Pacific Coast League at-bats...struggled in 5 post season games, going 4-for-22 (.182) with 2 2Bs and 3B.
