2005
Valentine began the season with the Reds, posting a 0-1 record and 9.53 ERA in 12 appearances before being optioned to Triple-A Louisville on May 6. He went 0-7 with a 5.70 ERA and three saves over 49 appearances for the Bats. The Reds recalled him on Sept. 5, and he appeared in four games after that promotion, giving up one earned run over three innings of work.

Spent most of the season at Class AAA, where combined he went 2-3-5, 4.10 in 49 relief apps for
Sacramento and Louisville...prior to his 7/30 acquisition from the Athletics went 1-3-4, 4.82 in 40 relief apps at
Sacramento...made 1 appearance for Louisville before he was promoted to the Reds on 8/5 but did not pitch in a
game before he was optioned back to Louisville on 8/12...after he joined Louisville on 8/12 went 1-0-1, 1.08 in 6 relief
apps before he was recalled again on 8/22, after Scott Sullivan was traded to the White Sox...made both of his Major
League apps, on 8/24 at Hou and 8/25 vs Mil, before he returned to Louisville on 8/26 as 1 of 8 transactions that
day...spent the rest of the season with the Bats and appeared in 2 more games there...on 8/24 at Hou made his Major
League debut (1ip, 2h, 1er, 0bb, 0k)...on 8/25 vs Mil recorded his first career strikeout (Eddie Perez)...pitched for
