Full name JESUS JESSE GARCIA...Single...Has two children, twins Jalyn and Jesus III (3/12/96)...Played Little League and American Legion baseball...1992 graduate of Robstown (TX) HS, where he played 4 years of baseball, basketball and football and ran track for 3 years...Was selected to All-State team in baseball and was named MVP for South Texas...Also boxed competitively for 10 years...Won several Golden Gloves titles, posting a 53-2 record in the ring...Attended Lee (TX) JC for one year and was named All-Conference and All-Region...Led national junior college players with 42 steals (in 43 tries) in 1993.
2003
Had contract purchased from AAA Richmond after Aug. 31 game at Pit...Named to AAA All-Star team; went 0 x 2 in mid-season game...Ranked 6th in International League with a career-high .306 BA; also set a career best with 29 stolen bases...Led Richmond with 130 hits and 36 multi-hit games...Was Richmond's May Player of the Month (.390, 9 RBI)...Collected 4 hits June 6 at Louisville and Aug. 22 vs. Charlotte.

Was primarily used as a pinch runner after being recalled from AAA Richmond Sept. 1...Started season at Richmond and was recalled by Atlanta July 7; went 1 x 5 in 10 games before being optioned back to AAA Aug. 1...Hit .264 with 2 HRs, 22 RBI, 18 SBs and 21 sacrifice bunts in 104 games for Richmond...Led International League with 21 sacrifice hits at the time of his recall...Led Richmond with 18 stolen bases...Had a season-best 11- game hitting streak June 8-19 (20 x 46, 8 2B, 4 RBI, 4 SB, 12 R).

Began and finished the season with the Orioles but spent most of the year at AAA Rochester...Appeared in 6 games with the Orioles in April, going 0-for-11, and was optioned to Rochester on April 28...Was recalled near the end of the Triple-A season and played in 8 games after joining the team, making one start, on September 20, when he collected his only hit of the season...Played 106 games at Rochester with 101 games at SS.
1999
Had three stints with the Orioles but spent most of the season with AAA Rochester...Came to spring training as a non-roster invitee and made the Orioles' Opening Day roster, appearing in 3 games before being sent to Rochester on April 11 when Delino DeShields was activated...Made his major league debut in the season opener on April 5, playing the final 2 innings at 2B.Singled on the first pitch thrown to him in his first big league plate appearance on April 10 vs. Toronto's Chris Carpenter.Was making his first start, at 2B...Was recalled from Rochester on April 20 and appeared in 4 games before being optioned back to the Red Wings on May 4...Batted .255 in 62 games at Rochester, missing two months (May 24-July 19) with a sprained left wrist. Hit only .204 in August...At AAA, hit .314 (11-35) off lefties and .243 (45-185) off right-handers...Was recalled on September 7 following the completion of the Red Wings season and played in 10 games, including 6 starts...Hit his first ML home run on September 22 at Texas off Rick Helling in front of more than 60 relatives and friends.It also was his first multi-hit game.Hit his 2nd home run in the second game of doubleheader on September 30 against the New York Yankees...Played 2B, SS and 3B with the O's and did not make an error in 38 total chances...Following the season, Jesse played in the Arizona Fall League for the Scottsdale Scorpions.

Spent time at both AAA Rochester and AA Bowie, batting a .287 with 19 2B, 5 3B, 2 HR, 38 RBI and 20 SB.Was honored for the second year in a row by Baseball America as Eastern League's Best Defensive Second Baseman.Hit .400 (24-60) as a leadoff hitter and .317 (60-189) versus right-handed pitchers.Through the first 30 games of the season was batting .382 (33-86) and was leading the Eastern League in hitting at that time.Over the next 16 games he was 7-for-53 (.132), dropping his average to .288.Was promoted to Rochester on 7/17.Made his AAA debut that night going 1-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBI.While with Rochester he compiled 13 multi-hit games, including a 4-for-4 effort on 9/4 at Buffalo.With the Red Wings he was involved in turning 44 double plays in 44 games.
1997
Led Eastern League 2Bs in fielding pct. (.985) and was named league's Best Defensive 2B in Baseball America's mid-season survey of EL managers.Led EL in games played, missing only 1 game.Led all minor leaguers and set Bowie franchise record with 24 sac bunts.Hit safely in 8 of first 9 games.Average peaked at .248 on 8/8.With Perth in Australian Baseball League following the season, he batted .271 (32-118) in 40 games.
1996
Named in Baseball America's "Tools of the Trade" as Best Defensive 2B in the California League.Led league 2Bs in fielding (.968), total chances (694), putouts (263), assists (409), double plays (81) and errors (22, tied).Tied for league lead with 137 games played.His 20 sacrifice bunts led all Class A players and was 2nd among all minor leaguers.Led High Desert with 25 steals.Batted .327 (35-107) in July with 4 HR and 20 RBI in 29 games.Had a 14-game hitting streak, 7/23 to 8/7, batting .393 (22-56).Hit league's 1st grand slam of season 4/4 vs. Lake Elsinore.
1995
Had a 9-game hitting streak (.429, 12-28), 8/11-17.Led Carolina League second basemen with 28 errors.
1994
Was placed on the disabled list 6/19 and missed the season with pneumonia.
