Spent the majority of the season at triple-A, but did pitch in three games with San Francisco...was acquired by Seattle near the trading deadline and finished the season with Tacoma...Went to spring training with the Giants before an April 2 option to Fresno...went 1-0, 3.46 (5ER/13.0IP) in three April starts...was 2-1, 5.54 (16ER/26.0IP) in five May outings...made one June start prior to June 13 recall by the Giants...Pitched in three Interleague games (two starts) in June with San Francisco before being sidelined with a neck injury...Outing on June 14 at Minnesota was his first Major League start and just his second big league appearance since Aug 20, 2003...got a no-decision against the Twins, allowing three runs (two earned) in 5.2 innings...Allowed four hits and four runs in 3.1 innings on June 19 at Detroit...allowed two hits and no runs in 1.1 innings of relief on June 24 at Oakland...placed on the disabled list (July 1-24) with a neck strain...Went on a rehabilitation assignment with San Jose on July 17, going 1-0, 2.08 over three starts...recalled and optioned to Fresno on July 24...made a relief appearance on July 26 for Fresno prior to his July 30 acquisition by Seattle...Went 0-1 with 2.57 ERA (4ER/14.0IP) in six starts at triple-A Tacoma, working on a pitch limit each outing...made two starts in the postseason with the Rainiers...Worked 4.0 innings on Sept. 3, allowing three hits and one run vs. Sacramento.

Returned from "Tommy John" surgery ahead of schedule, spending final month of campaign with Giants and pitching in season finale...worked scoreless seventh inning Oct. 3 at LA, marking first appearance on big league mound since leaving start vs. Braves Aug. 20, 2003...was impressive in lone frame...after leadoff hitter singled, retired the next 3 batters in order with 2 strikeouts...made nine minor league starts, going 0-2 with 4.32 ERA (12 ER, 25.0 IP) for rookie-level Arizona, single-A San Jose and triple-A Fresno... made first appearance in pro ball since surgery when he took hill for Giants' affiliate in Arizona Rookie League July 19, allowing one run in lone inning pitched...was recalled from Grizzlies Sept. 7...pitched in Puerto Rican Winter League following campaign.
2003
Burst onto Major League scene and served as effective member of Giants' starting rotation before having season derailed by Tommy John surgery...had to leave Aug. 20 start vs. Atlanta in fourth inning after experiencing numbness in right hand...underwent surgery Sept. 16 in Birmingham, AL...Drs. James Andrews and Ken Akizuki performed procedure...ranked among NL rookie leaders for wins (T8th - 8), ERA (9th - 5.03), starts (T5th - 21), innings pitched (9th - 111.0), strikeouts (4th - 101) and batting avgerage against (6th - .249)...in 21 starts overall, was 8-9 with 5.00 ERA (60ER/108.0IP), limiting opponents to .248 average (100x403)...opened season with triple-A Fresno, but made just one start before contract was purchased April 10 when Ryan Jensen was placed on Disabled List...made ML debut with 2.0-scoreless innings April 14 vs. Houston in SF's 4-2 victory, holding lead while working seventh and eighth innings...struck out two, fanning Craig Biggio for first career punchout...earned first ML win in third big league start, 9-6 SF triumph over Cincinnati May 3 at SBC Park...fourth victory came courtesy of best ML start June 11 at Chicago White Sox...yielded just one hit and one run, while recording career-best 10 strikeouts over 7.1 frames in SF's 11-4 triumph...was optioned to triple-A Fresno July 10 so that SF could carry another arm in bullpen to close out first half...option was transferred to San Jose July 16, where he made start...was recalled prior to July 20 start...posted 3-1 record with 3.90 ERA (14ER/32.1IP) in six starts before being shelved with injury...delivered RBI-triple off Colorado's Jason Jennings May 31 for first Major League hit.
2002
Continued his ascension of Giants minor league chain, logging stops at organization's top outposts...led Giant farmhands with 183 strikeouts, while finishing 10th with 3.46 ERA...in 25 combined starts, went 6-9 and limited opponents to .225 avg. (115x512)... opened season at double-A Shreveport and promptly fashioned 2.79 ERA in 11 contests, but managed only 3-3 ledger...was tabbed for Texas League All-Star Game...shared Shreveport's Player of Month honors for May with Todd Linden...Howe SportsData named him TL Pitcher of Week for May 13-19...made jump to Fresno June 17...in 14 starts for Grizzlies, was 3-6 with 3.99 ERA (35ER/79.0IP).
2001
Embarked on professional career at rookie-league Salem-Keizer...enjoyed success immediately, leading Northwest League with 1.93 ERA, while tying for second with eight wins and ranking third with 88 strikeouts...finished campaign with 8-1 mark...was named Salem-Keizer's Player of Month for both July and August...also garnered Howe SportsData's NWL Pitcher of Week honors for Aug. 13-19...helped Volcanoes to league title after tossing 6.0-shutout innings with 12 strikeouts for victory in NWL post season.
