Full name JEREMY BRYANS OWERS...Resides in Leesburg, VA...Married, wife's name is Ashley...Attended Ballard High School in Louisville, KY where he was named National High School All-American by Baseball America... Hernandez... At LA on May 10 he suffered an 8.0 loss to the Angels and Kelvim Escobar... Had an exceptional year between AAA Buffalo and Cleveland, posting a combined record of 16-5 w/a 2.42 ERA in 29 starts (185.2IP, 163H, 50ER) in just his 2nd full professional season...His 2nd half ERA of 2.72 was the 2nd lowest in the AL and his ERA of 2.33 (6-1, 8GS, 65.2IP, 56H, 17ER) from July 22nd thru the end of the season was the 2nd lowest mark in MLB behind Roger Clemens' 2.25 mark...Won 6 straight decisions, a season-high by an Indian, from July 22-Sept. 5 (7GS, 1.93ERA, 60.2IP, 13ER)...Finished 4th among AL rookies in ERA (3.57), T4th in wins (7) and T3rd w/his 6-game winning streak. u Spent first 2 months of the season, posting a record of 9-1 w/a 1.39 ERA (97.1IP, 78H, 20R/15ER, 1HR, 29BB, 54K, .224 avg all'd) and went at least 5.0IP in 14 of 15 starts while tossing 2 complete game shutouts...At the time of his promotion to Cleveland on June 24 he had the lowest ERA in Triple A baseball and was tied for 1st in the International League in wins and is 3rd in innings pitched... Became the first Indian since Bud Black in 1989 to toss consecutive CG/shutous and first Indians rookie hurler since Dick Tidrow in 1972 (July 31-Aug 4) to throw consecutive shutouts... The last big league rookie to do it was Dontrelle Willis in 2003 (one was a rain-shortened 5.0IP game)...The last rookie to throw consecutive 9.0IP shutouts was Rolando Arrojo for Tampa Bay in 1998...Did not receive a decision in start of August 2 at Boston (was a 6-5 loss to the Sox- 5.0IP, 5H, 2R/ER, 2BB, season- high 5K)... Allowed a pair of runs in the 4th inning as he had his scoreless streak snapped at 22.0IP... It was the 3rd longest by a Indians rookie since 1972 and was T7th longest in the Majors in 2006... Also longest streak by a Tribe pitcher since Paul Assenmacher's 23.1IP in 1997...Won his 4th game of the season in 13-0 win over the Royals on August 13 (6.0IP, 5H, 0R). u Won an Indians team-high 6 straight decisions from July 22 thru Sept. 5...Over the 7 starts he was 6-0 w/a 1.93 ERA (60.2IP, 49H, 13ER) ...Lost his last start of the year on Sept. 12 vs. KC (5.0IP, 7H, 4R/ER) and was shutdown for the last 3 weeks of the season after pitching a combined 185.2 innings on the year...Combined on the year he was 16-5 w/a 2.42 ERA in 29 starts (185.2IP, 163H, 50ER)...Major League hitters batted .252 (85-337) off him w/10HR (.392SLG, .298OBP)...LHH are 16 for 71 (.225, 4HR) and RHH are 69 for 266 (.259, 6HR)... Batters hit .234 (33-141) with runners on & .290 (20-69) w/RISP (12-35, .343 w/RISP-2outs)...The .234 mark with runners on was 11th lowest in the league...Allowed 6 stolen bases (3CS)...Tribe was 8-6 in his starts...10 of his 14 starts in the big leagues went into the 6th inning.
2005
Went a combined 14-4 with a 2.37 ERA in 27 starts at A Kinston, AA Akron and AAA Buffalo in his first season as a pro (159.1IP, 141H, 42ER, 149K, .235 avg)...Led organizational pitcher in wins and strikeouts and was 3rd in ERA and IP and was named Minor League Pitcher of the Year (Bob Feller Award)...His 2.37 combined ERA was seventh-lowest in all of Minor League Baseball...Walked 30 batters the entire season w/a 5.0:1 SO/BB ratio and averaged 1.7BB/9.0IP... Started the year at A Kinston where he worked into the 5th inning in all 13 of his starts and fanned 6 or more in 8 of those outings...Went 3-2 w/a 2.38 ERA in 6 May starts (34.0IP, 28H, 9ER, 35K) and was promoted to AA Akron on June 16...Lefty Carolina League hitters hit .173 (13-75) and batters hit .210 (13-62) with RISP, .083 (2-24) with RISP-2outs... At the time of his AA promotion, he was tied for the Carolina League lead in wins (8) and was 4th in ERA (2.78) and strikeouts (75)...
