Jeremy Scott Brown was originally signed by A's scout Billy Owens...was drafted by the A's following the first round (35th selection overall) of the 2002 draft as a compensation pick for the loss of free agent Jason Giambi to the New York Yankees...attended the University of Alabama where he posted a .337 (307 for 910) career average with 46 home runs and 231 RBI...was named to the *Baseball America* Freshman All-America team as a designated hitter after hitting .347 with 15 HR and 69 RBI, helping fourth ranked Alabama reach the College World Series...was an All-SEC selection at catcher as a junior (.363, 10 HR, 48 RBI) and senior (.320, 11 HR, 64 RBI)...led all NCAA Division I players as a senior with 69 walks in 66 games.

2006

Brown started the year in Triple-A Sacramento and had four stints with the A's in 2006. He didn't make his Major League debut until Sept. 3 against Baltimore. Had his first hit on Sept. 30 vs. the Angels with a pinch-hit single off Hector Carrasco in the eighth inning. He went 2-for-4 with two doubles on Oct. 1 against the Angels. In Sacramento, Brown made 66 of his 77 appearances at catcher and committed one error. He hit .255 for the Rivercats with 13 homers and 40 RBIs. Brown had 60 strikeouts and drew 23 walks in Sacramento for a .317 on-base percentage.

2005

Returned to Double-A Midland for the third consecutive year and had 20 home runs and 72 RBI, both career highs...also had career highs in runs (65), hit by pitches (11) and strikeouts (88) and matched his best in doubles (27) and triples (1)...batted .261 in 115 games and his .359 on-base percentage was the lowest of his career...finished second on the Rockhounds in home runs...helped lead Midland to the Texas League Championship as he batted .419 (13 for 31) with three home runs, 15 RBI and a .513 on-base percentage in nine post-season games to earn TL Playoffs Most Valuable Player honors...batted .266 (73 for 274) with 14 of his 20 home runs against right-handed pitchers and .250 (30 for 120) against left-handers during the regular season...hit .265 (52 for 196) at home and .258 (51 for 198) on the road but hit 15 of his 20 home runs on the road...his average dropped to .250 (30 for 120) with runners in scoring position, including .214 (12 for 56) with RISP and two outs, but he was 4 for 7 (.571) with a grand slam and 15 RBI with the bases loaded...appeared in 106 games at catcher and four at first base and was also 4 for 13 (.308) in five games at designated hitter...committed 12 errors as a catcher which was second most in the TL...led league catchers with 761 total chances for a .984 fielding percentage...tossed out 33 of 144 (22.9%) attempted base stealers and his 111 stolen bases allowed tied for the most in all of Minor League Baseball (Matt Houston, Delmarva)...hit in every spot in the order from four through eight and made his most starts batting sixth (40)...had his best success hitting fifth where he was 26 for 71 (.366) in 19 games...batted .300 or better in a month twice, hitting .302 (26 for 86) in May and .306 (26 for 85) in August...hit .241 or below in the other months, including .241 (14 for 58) in April, .226 (14 for 62) in June and .239 (22 for 92) in July...hit just six home runs in 62 games over the first three months of the season but connected for seven home runs in both July and August...had 26 RBI over the first three months of the season but drove in 23 runs in July and 22 in August...had a season best 10-game hitting streak from July 15 to 25...was 15 for 38 (.395) with four home runs and 16 RBI during the streak...had a season best six RBI on July 16 against Tulsa and capped the streak with a grand slam and four RBI on July 25 at Frisco...hit three home runs and had his lone four-hit game of the season on August 12 at Springfield...scored three runs and added four RBI in the game...earned TL Player of the Week honors for the week of August 8-14 when he batted .458 (11 for 24) with four doubles, three home runs and eight RBI.

2004

Played a full season for the first time in his professional career, appearing in a career high 122 games at Double-A Midland...batted .256 with six home runs and 49 RBI in his second consecutive season at the Double-A level...in addition to games, he also had career highs in at bats (446), hits (114), doubles (27) and walks (71)...finished second on the Rockhounds in walks and led the club with 20 grounded into double plays...batted .275 (36 for 131) with three home runs against left handed pitching and .248 (78 for 315) with three home runs against right-handers...his average dropped to .189 (28 for 148) with runners in scoring position, including .059 (1 for 17) with the bases loaded...appeared in 87 games at catcher and batted .301 (98 for 326) with all six of his home runs and 42 of his 49 RBI in those contests...also batted .133 (16 for 120) in 35 games as the designated hitter...hit in every spot in the order from fourth to eighth and had his best success and most playing time hitting sixth (40 for 129, .310)...had a season best seven-game hitting streak from May 9 to 21 (9 for 25, .360)...recorded five straight multiple hit games from July 3 to 7 (10 for 20, .500)...finished July with a .324 (35 for 108) batting average, his best one month batting average in 2004...had 12 RBI in July and 13 in August after driving in 23 runs over the first three months of the season...played for the Arizona Fall League Champion Phoenix Desert Dogs following the season and hit .353 (12 for 34) with two home runs and 12 RBI in 14 games...added eight walks for a .477 on-base percentage.

2003

Spent the entire season at Double-A Midland but was limited to just 66 games because of a sprained left thumb...batted .275 with five home runs and 37 RBI...added 41 walks for a .388 on-base percentage...batted .286 (50 for 175) against right handed pitching and .241 (14 for 58) against left-handers...hit four of his five home runs on the road where he batted .298 (36 for 121) compared to .250 (28 for 112) at home...was 3 for 6 (.500) with a double and eight RBI with the bases loaded...made 63 of his 66 appearances at catcher and was also 2 for 11 (.182) in three games at designated hitter...also pinch-hit once and walked...hit in every spot in the order except first and second and had his best success in the seven spot (32 for 94, .340)...batted .222 in April, .283 in May and .323 in June...homered twice in his first six games, went 44 games without a homer and then homered three times in his final 16 contests...began the season with an eight-game hitting streak from April 3 to 11 (11 for 31, .355)...put together a season high 11-game hitting streak from May 31 to June 13 (16 for 38, .421)...was placed on the disabled list with a sprained left thumb on June 27 and missed the remainder of the season.

2002

Batted a combined .307 with 10 home runs and 41 RBI in 65 games at Vancouver and Visalia after signing with the A's following the June draft...added 54 walks which fueled a .451 on-base percentage...had 15 doubles in addition to his 10 home runs for a .516 slugging percentage...began his professional career at Vancouver of the short season Northwest League and hit .286 with a double and one RBI in 10 games...transferred to Single-A Visalia of the California League on July 1 and hit .310 with 10 home runs and 40 RBI in 55 games...added 44 walks for a .444 on-base percentage and slugged .545...batted .381 against left handed pitching and .290 against right-handers...batted in every spot in the order except the first three and saw most of his playing time batting clean-up where he hit .330 with seven of his 10 home runs...average improved to .367 with runners in scoring position...was hitting .207 on July 23 but then went 16 for 33 (.485) with seven doubles, a home run, 12 RBI and 11 runs scored over a nine-game stretch from July 24 to August 2, boosting his average to .308...finished the regular season with a season best six-game hitting streak (9 for 25, .360) and then hit .333 (2 for 6) with a double and two walks in two playoff games for Visalia.
