Jeff has spent parts of the last two seasons with the Cubs after he was acquired from Cleveland with P John Gaub and P Chris Archer for INF Mark DeRosa, December 31, 2008...was added to the Cubs 40-man roster the same day...Is 1-0 with a 6.53 ERA (22 ER/30.1 IP) in 29 relief appearances for the Cubs since making his big league debut in 2009...Owns a 25-23 record with 20 saves and a 3.27 ERA (150 ER/412.1 IP) in 206 career minor league appearances (29 starts)...Has struck out 448 while walking 157, good for a 2.9 strikeout-to-walk ratio in the minors...Since pitching exclusively in relief starting in 2007, has posted a 2.79 ERA (75 ER/242.0 IP) in 163 minor league appearances...Attended Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, Calif...Named to the All-West Coast Conference second team after going 6-0 with a 3.73 ERA in 2004...Graduated from Campolindo (Calif.) Jeff began the year at Triple-A Iowa, but made 18 relief appearances for Chicago, covering three stints (May 19-June 26, June 29-July 5 and July 20-23)...did not allow an earned run in his first nine outings (9.0 IP)...His season ERA was at 2.76 (5 ER/16.1 IP) through his first 15 outings for Chicago...he allowed seven runs in his final three games (1.1 IP), July 2-21, raising his ERA to 6.11...Posted a 1.17 ERA (1 ER/7.2 IP) in eight road games at the big league level, compared to a 9.90 ERA (11 ER/10.0 IP) in 10 contests at Wrigley Field...With Triple-A Iowa this season, went 0-2 with 10 saves, a 3.16 ERA (15 ER/42.2 IP) and 43 strikeouts in 36 relief appearances...His 10 saves with Iowa marked a career high...Logged a 2.66 ERA (6 ER/20.1 IP) in 14 games prior to the Triple-A All-Star break...had a 3.63 mark (9 ER/22.1 IP) in 22 games in the second half.

Jeff, in his final season in the Indians farm system, split the season between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Buffalo...went 0-3 with five saves and a 3.94 ERA (13 ER/29.2 IP) in his first stint at the Triple-A level...Combined to go 5-4 with six saves, a 3.24 ERA (21 ER/58.1 IP) and a .184 average against in 36 appearances...Struck out 81 batters, an average of 12.5 strikeouts per nine innings...walked only 27, good for a three-to-one strikeout-to-walk ratio...Surrendered just five home runs in 58.1 innings of work...Began the season with Akron, going 5-1 with a save and a 2.51 ERA (8 ER/28.2 IP) in 17 relief appearances...Tossed a career-high 3.2-scoreless innings of relief April 3 at Harrisburg, fanning four...Held opponent scoreless in 12 of his 17 outings, including nine of the last 10 before his June 2 promotion to Buffalo...Boasted a season-high 12.0-inning scoreless streak, May 10-June 2, between Akron and Buffalo...struck out 18 over the stretch...Converted five-straight save opportunities for Buffalo, June 8-24...Tossed 2.0 or more innings of relief in 10 of his 19 outings with the Bison.
