In 1984 graduated from Eisenhower High School in Rialto, California...from 1985-87 pitched at UCLA and in his 3 seasons there went 5-4, 6.06 with 2 saves...is a world class racquetball player...won the 1985 Junior National Championships and has participated in several professional racquetball tournaments... at the 1993 U.S. Racquetball Doubles Championships in Phoenix finished third with his wife, Cindy, as his partner...at the 1999 U.S. National Doubles Racquetball Championships in Baltimore, Jeff and Cindy won the 25-and-over mixed doubles title, while Jeff placed second with partner Steve Lerner in the men's 30-and-over division finals...Cindy is a 2-time national doubles champion and won the silver medal in women's doubles at the 1993 U.S. Olympic Festival in San Antonio...Jeff and Cindy are co-founders of the Conine All-Star Classic, a celebrity golf tournament that raises money for the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, Florida...in November 2003 the hospital honored Jeff and Cindy by dedicating "Conine's Clubhouse," a 24-hour facility to accommodate families whose children are patients in the hospital...is active in fundraisers for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation...was the Orioles' 2002 Roberto Clemente Award nominee for his contributions to his community. For the second straight season was a National League All-Star and the club's Most Valuable Player as voted by the local chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America...established club records with 105rbi, 53 extra-base hits and 251 total bases...was MVP of the All-Star Game after hitting the game-winning home run in the eighth inning off Oak's Steve Ontiveros...became the 10th player to homer in his first All-Star Game plate appearance and the first player selected in an expansion draft to win the MVP...led the National League with 12 sac flies and ranked among the leaders in RBI (T4th) and slugging percentage (.520, 9th)... was NL Player of the Month for June (.340, 6 2b, 9hr, 24rbi), the first Marlins player ever to win the monthly award...on 5/29 missed his first game for the Marlins, snapping his streak of 307 consecutive games played since the start of the franchise (291 starts)...was the longest appearance streak at the start of any expansion club in history.

Was hampered the entire 1991 season by left wrist problems...Had surgery performed on the hamate bone in his left wrist on 1/21 by Dr. Charles Rhoades...Underwent arthroscopic surgery on 12/16 to remove torn cartilage from the lateral side of the wrist.

Made his Major League debut by walking as a pinch-hitter on 9/16, the same day he was called up by the Royals...Made his 1st start on 9/17 at Minnesota and collected his 1st hit off Larry Casian.

Returned to Baseball City and led the team in home runs...Led the Southern League champion Memphis Chicks with a .320 average, 15 homers and 95 RBI in 1990...Voted the Royals Minor League Player of the Year, the S.L.
