Woods excelled as Seattle's long reliever before he was put in the team's starting rotation -- replacing Joel Pineiro -- in August. The left-hander won four games after the move. He tossed seven shutout innings in a victory over the White Sox on Sept. 21, striking out four and walking none. Five of Woods' seven victories came after the All-Star break. Woods appeared in 37 games, including eight starts.

Began fifth professional season with Angels...made his Major League debut, posting 1-1 record with a 4.55 ERA (14ER/27.2IP) in 28 games...allowed 30 hits (7 HR), walked eight and struck out 20 batters in that span...Was converted to reliever after making 97 of 98 career appearances as starter in minors...Made Major League debut April 8 vs. Kansas City (2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB)...marked first left-handed reliever to appear with Angels in regular season since Scott Schoeneweis, July 27, 2003...Earned first major league win, April 23 vs. Oakland (1 IP, 1 H, 1 SO)...loss came June 5 at Boston...Tossed season-best 3.1 innings, June 19 vs. Florida...struck out four batters, May 11 vs. Cleveland... Was 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA (4ER/17.1IP) in April-May...Was optioned to triple-A Salt Lake, July 11...appeared in 15 games with Stingers, finishing 3-1 with a 5.89 ERA (24ER/36.2IP) in 15 games (five starts)...Was 1-1 with a 4.91 ERA as a starter and 2-0 with a 7.36 ERA as a reliever...Longest outing was 5.2 innings pitched, Aug. 21 vs. Sacramento...struck out season-high seven batters in final outing of season, Sept. 5 at Las Vegas.

Began fourth professional season at double-A Arkansas, posting 9-2 record with one complete game and a 2.60 ERA (26ER/90 IP) in 14 starts...allowed 85 hits (5 HR), walked 19 and struck out 60 batters...led club in wins and starters in ERA...won five straight decisions, April 18-May 24 (eight starts)...lone complete game came in first game of doubleheader, June 10 vs. San Antonio (Win; 7 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 HR, 1 BB, 2 SO)...longest outing was eight innings pitched (twice)...strikeout high was eight, May 14 at Tulsa (7 IP)...named Organization Pitcher of the Month for April, registering 4-1 record and 2.25 ERA (8ER/32.0IP) in five starts...finished 6-0 with a 2.14 ERA (11ER/46.1IP) in seven starts at home...was selected to participate in Texas League All-Star Game...Promoted to triple-A Salt Lake following June 15 start...in 15 games (14 starts) with Stingers, posted 6-4 mark with one complete game and a 6.07 ERA (56ER/83.0IP)...allowed 107 hits (13 HR), walked 42 and struck out 60 batters...was 6-3 with a 5.70 ERA as a starter and 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA as reliever...lone relief outing came June 30 at Edmonton (4.0IP)... complete game came Aug. 1 at Memphis (Loss; 8 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 HR, 3 BB, 3 SO)...longest outing was eight innings pitched (twice)...strikeout high was eight, Sept. 2 vs. Tucson (7.0 IP)...was 4-1 at home (eight starts) and 3-0 in month of July (five starts, 3.81 ERA)...overall on season, set career bests in wins (15), games (29), starts (28-tied) and innings pitched (173)...among all minor league pitchers, ranked tied for sixth in wins and 10th in innings pitched.

Finished third professional season at single-A Rancho Cucamonga, posting 12-7 record and 3.99 ERA (76ER/171.1IP) with two complete games and one shutout...set career-highs in wins, starts (28)...among league leaders, ranked first in innings pitched and starts, second in complete games, third in shutouts and fourth in wins...won five- straight decisions (nine starts) with two complete games, May 19-July 4.
2002
Went 10-5 with 3.05 ERA (52ER/153.1IP) and one complete game for single-A Cedar Rapids...3.05 ERA ranked 9th in Midland League and is career-best...also set career-high in strikeouts with 121...held opponents to .228 average against.

Posted 4-3 record and 5.29 ERA (38ER/64.2IP) with one shutout in 15 appearances (14 starts) for rookie-level Provo...ranked first in Pioneer League in strikeouts (84), strikeouts per nine innings pitched as a starter (11.59), shutouts (1) and complete games (1).
