In 1991 graduated from Channel Islands (CA) High School, where he was all-league his junior and senior seasons...as a senior was a Mizuno All-American...played for the gold medal-winning West squad at the Junior Olympic Festival...played 3 seasons at Arizona State University (.361, 25hr, 130rbi)...as a junior at Arizona State in 1994 was a second-team Baseball America All-America selection after he led the club in hitting (.393) and hits (105)...was the 1994 Pacific-10 Conference South Player of the Year.
1995
At Class AA Shreveport was a Texas League All-Star for the league champion.
1996
Made his Major League debut on 7/18 vs LA with a start in right field (0-4)...on 7/19 vs LA collected his first ML hit, a homer off Tom Candiotti.
1997
Was a Pacific Coast League All-Star and Baseball America Class AAA All-Star...was the Giants' Class AAA Player of the Month for April, June and July and the TOPPS PCL Player of the Month for July...from 5/30-7/31 reached base safely in 54 consecutive games, the longest streak of its kind in the minors...led the PCL in hitting (.361), on-base percentage (.434) and doubles (45) and ranked among the leaders in hits (178, 2nd),runs (97, 2nd), RBI (95, 5th) and total bases (265, 5th).
1998
Spent most of the season at Class AAA Fresno (Giants) and Buffalo (Indians)...combined to hit .309 with 31hr and 98rbi in 132g...on 12/2 had surgery on his left elbow (Dr. Louis Keppler).
1999
Hit .330 in 32g for Cle...on 8/9 had surgery on his right thumb (Dr. Tom Graham, Dr. Louis Keppler).
2000
Appeared in 11g for the Indians before a knee injury ended his season...on 5/11 had reconstructive surgery on his left knee (Dr. Louis Keppler, Dr. Mark Schickendantz).
2001
Established career highs with 4hr, 18rbi and 72g for the Indians and Rockies.

Season was cut short by surgery on his left elbow (7/17, Dr. Kyle Anderson)...also spent time on the disabled list with right knee inflammation.

Tied with Ari's Alex Cintron & Tony Clark Led the Major Leagues with a club-record 20 pinch hits (20-76, .263) and tied Ari's Tony Clark and Alex Cintron for the ML lead with 3 pinch-hit HR...is the first Reds batter to lead the National League in pinch hits since Fred Whitfield had 11ph in 1968...also led all NL pinch hitters in apps (88), AB (76), total bases (35) and doubles (6)...for the second straight season led Reds pinch hitters in hits (20), at bats (76), HR (3) and RBI (11)...recorded his pinch-hit home runs on 6/8 vs TB off Lee Gardner, 6/9 vs TB off Jesus Colome and 7/27 at LA off Jeff Weaver...established career highs in apps (110), doubles (10) and homers (4)...made 13 starts (5g in LF, 5g in RF, 2g at 1B, 1g at DH, 9-46, .196, 1hr, 7rbi)...made his last 2 starts at 1B (9/23 vs Phi, 9/29 at Mil), his only starts of the season at that position...in the batting order made starts batting sixth (4gs), seventh (8gs) and eighth (1gs)...on 5/28 vs Pit produced a pinch-hit, RBI-double with 2 outs in the fifth inning to break up Dave Williams' no-hit bid...on 6/8 and 6/9 vs TB homered in consecutive pinch-hit apps (off Gardner and Colome)...became the first Reds player to homer in consecutive pinch-hit plate apps since Adam Dunn did it on 5/21 and 5/26, 2003...on 7/2 vs Hou snapped a career-high 0-for-16 skid with an RBI-single off Ezequiel Astacio...in the 7-6 win on 7/27 at LA produced a pinch-hit, 2-run HR off Jeff Weaver that tied the game at 4-4...on 9/2 at Atl doubled off Chris Reitsma for his 19th pinch-hit of the season, tying Jerry Lynch's club record (1960, 1961)...on 9/9 vs Pit broke the record with his 20th pinch hit, a single off Salomon Torres...on 10/27 filed for free agency...was re-signed to a minor league contract on 12/7.

Led Reds pinch hitters in hits (14), at-bats (55) and RBI (8)...appeared in a career-high 96g, including 22 starts (17g in RF, 2g at DH, 2g in LF, 1g at 1B)...hit .327 with RISP, second-highest among Reds batters who had at least 50ab with RISP (Griffey 1st, .329)...began the season at Class AAA Louisville and appeared in 17g there before he was promoted on 4/28, when Austin Kearns went on the disabled list...spent the rest of the season with the Reds...in 17g for the Bats hit .315 (3hr, 7rbi)...in the 6-5 victory on 6/6 vs Mtl hit the only pinch-hit homer of his career, a 2-run shot off Rocky Biddle in the ninth inning that tied the game at 5-5...was his first homer since 5/ 9/02 at Cle...on 8/1 vs Hou snapped a season-high 0-for-11 skid with a 2-run HR off Roy Oswalt...hit his other home run on 6/9 at Oak, a solo shot off Justin Duchscherer...produced a season-high 3rbi in each of consecutive apps, both starts at DH, on 6/9 at Oak and 6/12 at Cle...on 10/7 elected free agency in lieu of accepting an outright assignment...on 12/27 was re-signed to a minor league contract.
