12-year professional made ML debut in 2007 with Giants, performing admirably as backup catcher over final 4 months...has been with SF organization for 11 of his 12 seasons (1996-2003, 2005- 07), while spending 2004 campaign in Detroit system...initially signed by Giants as non-drafted free agent Nov. 17, 1995, was on club's 40-man roster following 1999 season and was non-roster invitee to Spring Training in 2003, 2006 and 2007...is career .256 hitter over 762 minor league games. Graduated from V.E. Formacion Deportiva in Barquisimeto, Lara, Venezuela...married (Johanna Ferrer, Feb. 14, 1998)...daughter (Jhancarlys, Dec. 19, 2001)...son (Guillermo, Jr., May 4, 2004.
2007
Reached majors for 1st time after nearly 12-year minor league odyssey, batting .253 in 39 games with Giants...had contract purchased from triple-A Fresno June 9, day after Eliezer Alfonzo suffered right knee injury...was excellent clutch hitter, as 9 of 22 ML hits came with RISP (9-for-22, .409)...was 4-for-9 (.444) with RISP and 2 outs...in fact, averaged RBI per every 6.2 at-bats (14 RBI, 87 ABs)...made 33 appearances behind plate, including 25 starts...made ML debut June 13 vs. Toronto, going 1-for-3 with sac fly and 2 RBI...1st big league hit was 1B off Dustin McGowan in 2nd at-bat...hammered 1st career HR Aug. 26 vs. Milwaukee, 2-run shot in 7th inning (off Dave Bush) that tied game 4-4 in SF's 5-4, comeback victory...played in 33 games with Grizzlies, batting .243 with HR and 16 RBI...played for Zuila in Venezulean Winter League, batting .291 with 3 HRs and 18 RBI in 49 games.
2006
Split season between single-A San Jose and triple-A Fresno, batting .275 (56- for-204) with 14 2Bs, career-high 13 HRs and 37 RBI in 65 games...blistered California League pitching to tune of .364 avg. in 26 games...tailed off with Grizzlies, batting .220 in 39 contests...played for Zuila in Venezuelan Winter League.

Returned to SF organization, spending majority of campaign with San Jose...also logged 6-game stint at double-A Norwich, batting combined .272 (61-for-224) with 9 HRs and 44 RBI...both HR and RBI totals were 2nd-highest marks of career...played for Zulia in Venezuelan Winter League.

Struggled during lone season in Detroit system, batting career-worst .187 over 73 games with triple-A Toledo.

Spent entire campaign at Fresno in Giants' chain and had solid year, hitting at .276 clip over 78 contests.

Had breakout year at plate while making rounds of SF minor league system, hitting career-best .302 (93-for-308) with 21 2Bs, 5 HRs and 34 RBI in 87 combined games for San Jose, Fresno and double-A Shreveport...avg. ranked 3rd among SF farmhands...began year with San Jose and batted .362 over 42 games, impressive enough for Honorable Mention accolades on California League's post season All-Star squad.

Split time between Shreveport and San Jose, hitting combined .228 (78-for-342) with 7 HRs and 46 RBI in 100 games...began season with Swamp Dragons, hitting 5 HRs with 25 RBI to earn spot on Texas League's in-season All-Star club.
