Glendon James Rusch...he and his wife, Kelley, have two sons, Cade and Trevor...graduated from Shorecrest High School in Seattle, WA, in 1993...played baseball and basketball in high school...threw a no-hitter his senior year.

2008

After beginning the season with the San Diego Padres, Rusch was outrighted to the minor leagues on 5/10...he elected for free agency rather than report to a Padres minor league affiliate and was signed to a minor league contract by Colorado on May 16...made his Rockies debut with a start on 5/31 at CHC and took the loss...was out of baseball in 2007 after being released in January of 2007 by the Cubs...was signed to a minor league contract in January 2008 by the Padres...made San Diego's major league roster out of Spring Training...made his first appearance in the majors on 4/4 vs. LAD, his first major league game since 9/4/06 vs. PIT while pitching for the Cubs...went 1-2 with a 6.41 ERA (19.2 ip, 14 er) in 12 relief appearances for the Padres in '08...made 5 appearances of 2.0 or more innings for San Diego, going 1-2 with a 1.93 ERA (14.0 ip, 3 er) in those 5 games...while with the Padres opponents hit .278 (22- for-79) against him; lefties hit .310 (9-for-29) and righties hit .260 (13-for-50)...allowed 2 runs or more in 5 relief appearances for the Padres...took the loss 4/17 vs. COL in the 22-inning affair and he struck out as the final batter of the game; tossed 3.0 innings in that game, one day after tossing 29 pitches vs. COL...the winning run he allowed was unearned...was outrighted by the Padres on 5/10...signed to a minor league contract by Colorado 5/16 and reported to Triple-A Colorado Springs...made his Colorado Springs debut with a start 5/20 at SAC...tossed 5.0 shutout innings with 5 K's in his debut...also started 5/25 vs. TAC and allowed just one run over 6.0 innings in that start...following that start had his contract purchased by the Rockies and made his Rockies debut 5/31 at CHC, his former club...took the 5/31 by allowing 5 runs in 4.2 innings on 9 hits; ...was optioned back to Triple-A 6/7 where he would spend the rest of June...made 5 more starts for the Sky Sox before being recalled for the rest of the season 7/5...in 7 starts with the Sky Sox Rusch went 1-2 with a 4.61 ERA (41.0 ip, 21 er) with 13 walks and 24 strikeouts...Pacific Coast League opponents hit Rusch at a .304 clip (48-for-158); lefties hitting .222 (8-for-36) and righties .328 (40-for- 122)...the Rockies recalled Rusch 7/5 and he made his first appearance 7/5 vs. FLA in relief, allowing 3 runs, 2 earned in 1.1 innings...after that relief appearance Rusch made 7 consecutive starts, going 4-1 with a 4.30 ERA (37.2 ip, 18 er) over the 7 starting assignments...allowed more than 3 earned runs in one of the 7 starts (8/14 vs. ARI)...tossed his first quality start of the season 7/9 at MIL, was his first quality start since 4/16/06 at PIT while pitching for the Cubs...was his first win in a Rockies uniform, and the first of 3 consecutive starts with a victory...earned the win 7/18 vs. PIT by tossing 5.2 innings and allowing 2 earned...notched his 3rd victory for the Rockies 7/23 vs. LA in the Rockies 5-3 win by allowing 3 runs over 5.0 innings...did not factor in the decision 8/3 at FLA despite striking out a season best 8 batters...was one of 13 games in which he has struckout 8 or more batters in a single game; last time to do so was when he struck out 9 hitters 5/28/06 vs. ATL, although he did not start that game (last start to strikeout 8 or more was when he K's 9 hitter in a start 9/19/04 at CIN)...earned his 4th and final win in a Rockies uniform 8/8 vs. SD by tossing his 2nd quality start of the season in the Rockies 6-3 win...made one more start 8/14 vs. ARI (4.2 ip, 5 r-er) before being moved to the bullpen...made 13 relief appearances for the Rockies from 8/17- 9/21, going 0-1 with a 3.31 ERA (0.2 ip, 6 er)...allowed runs in just 3 of his final 13 appearances, and more than one run just once...took the loss 9/11 at ATL by allowing 4 runs, all earned in 0.2 inning...in his 13 con-secutive relief appearances he held opponents to a .193 average (11-for-57)...made his final appearance of the season 9/27 at ARI in a starting role...was his first start since 8/14 but still went 4.0 innings and allowed 3 runs while exiting with a 4-3 lead that the bullpen could not hold...pitched in 22 games/8 starts since returning to the club 7/5 and went 4-2 with a 4.40 ERA (59.1 ip, 29 er) for the Rockies.

2006

Rusch's season ended Sept. 12 when doctors discovered a blood clot in his lung. Rusch began the year in the Cubs rotation, but was shifted to the bullpen. He also spent time on the disabled list with back problems and a strained elbow. As a starter, Rusch was 3-6 with an 8.36 ERA, and he was 0-2 with a 6.28 ERA as a reliever. On May 28, he pitched four innings in relief against Atlanta and struck out nine.

1995

Led the Carolina League in wins (14) and ERA (1.74) and held batters to a league-low .188 average...was 14-6 in 26 starts at Wilmington (A)...ranked second in the league in strikeouts (147) and fourth in starts, innings pitched (165.2) and fewest walks per 9.0 innings (1.85)...was a Baseball America Carolina League all-star.

1996

Was promoted to Omaha (AAA), where he was recognized as Kansas City's third-best prospect...Baseball America also named him the Pacific Coast League's sixth-best prospect, as he made the second-highest number of starts and was third in the league in innings pitched and fourth in wins.

1997

Saw big league action for the first time in his career, opening the season on Kansas City's 25-man roster...was 6-9 in his first 30 games (27 starts) at the big league level...fanned 116 batters in 170.1 innings...earned his first win in his major league debut April 6 at Minnesota, scattering 4 hits over 8.0 innings in a 12-2 victory...hurled his first ML complete game August 9 at Boston...earned the win, allowing 2 runs and 6 hits...worked 6.0 or more innings in 17 of his starts...was on the disabled list June 22-July 1 with a swollen lymph node under his left arm.

1998

Was 6-15 in 29 games (24 starts) for Kansas City...hurled a complete-game shutout June 14 vs. Detroit, allowing 7 hits and striking out 5 in a 2-0 win...moved to the bullpen for the final month of the season, putting up a 1.98 ERA in five games...earned his first big league save September 11 vs. Seattle.

1999

Spent his final season in the Royals' organization...opened the season at Omaha (AAA), going 4-7 with a 4.42 ERA...issued 102 strikeouts in his 20 starts...had two stints with the big league club, making three relief appearances...was traded to New York September 14, where he pitched 1.0 scoreless inning of relief.

2000

Posted his first double-digit winning season in the big leagues, going 11-11 with a 4.01 ERA...worked 6.0 or more innings in 23 of his 30 starts. © fanned a career-high 157 batters in 190.2 innings...hurled two complete games (April 15 and July 8) - but took the loss in both...in the April affair, he allowed just 2 earned runs on 4 hits and a walk, but the Mets were shut out 2-0...hurled a career-high 16.0 consecutive scoreless innings August 28-September 9.

2005

Glendon spent his second straight season with the Cubs in a utility role, working as both a starter and a reliever...was 9-8 with a 4.52 ERA in 46 games (19 starts)...recorded his second straight winning season...it was the first time in his career he had recorded consecutive winning seasons...posted the third-highest wins total of his career...had a season of streaks, dropping seven straight decisions from June 12-August 31 before rebounding with a four-game winning steak to close out the season...the winning streak tied a career high, accomplished twice previously...the losing streak spanned 23 games (seven starts)...made his season debut on Opening Day, working 2.1 innings of relief and earning the win in a 16-6 defeat of Arizona...earned his second win less than a week later, twirling a season-high 3.0 innings of scoreless relief in a 12-inning, 6-5 win over Milwaukee on April 10...had a season-high 8.2-scoreless innings streak April 6-April 24 (spanning seven games)...made his first start of the campaign May 7 against Philadelphia ... suffered the loss as the Cubs managed just 4 hits off Jon Lieber...earned his first win of the season as a starter on May 23, working 8.0 innings in a 4-1 defeat of Houston...faced 29 batters and allowed just three batters to reach second base...hurled his first complete-game shutout in nearly three years, hurling a 4-hitter on June 2...scattered 4 hits and a walk over the 9.0 innings of work...also struck out 7 batters in the 5-0 defeat of San Diego...the win came the day after southpaw John Koronka defeated the Padres...the back-to-back wins by left-handed starters were the first since 1987 (Steve Trout and Jamie Moyer)...took a perfect game into the seventh inning September 6 in St. Louis ... David Eckstein singled to lead off the frame...Rusch held on for the win, snapping his personal seven-game losing streak...made his final start of the season on September 29 in Houston, holding a potent Astros lineup to 2 runs over 7.0 innings of work...earned the win in a 3-2 decision, extending his winning streak to a career-high four games.

2004

Glendon was one of the most effective spot starters for the Cubs in recent history, making 16 starts for the Cubs and pitching in 16 games out of the bullpen...was 6-2 with a 3.47 ERA in 32 games (16 starts) for the Cubs...collected two saves, becoming one of six Cub relievers to pick up at least one save...surrendered 1 unearned run over 2.1 innings August 5 in Colorado as he picked up his first save of the campaign...worked 3.0 shutout innings in a 13-4 Cub victory August 24 at Milwaukee - earning his second save at the hands of his former teammates...had a 4.0-inning relief appearance August 10 against the Padres, allowing a run on 3 hits while walking 1 and striking out 2 batters.

2003

Struggled in his role as a starter, but proved to be an especially effective reliever after being moved to the bullpen for the second half of the season...posted a 2.35 ERA in 13 relief appearances, but was just 1-12 in 19 starts...held batters to a .289 average as a reliever - and issued just 4 walks in 23.0 innings out of the pen...worked 2.0 or more innings in six of his relief appearances, including a season-high 4.2-innings stint September 15 at St. Louis.

2002

Spent his first season with the Brewers after being traded to Milwaukee on January 21 as part of a three-team, seven-player deal...was 10-16 with a 4.70 ERA in his first season in the National League's Central Division...the double-digit win total was his second in the majors...worked a career-high 210.2 innings and made a career-high 34 starts...worked 6.0 or more innings in 24 of his starts...ranked fourth in the NL in starts and fifth in complete games (4)...won a career-high four straight decisions August 28-September 13.

2001

Went 8-12 with a 4.63 ERA in 33 starts for the Mets...struck out 156 batters in 179.0 innings...worked 6.0 or more innings in 17 of his starts...posted a 1.63 ERA (7 ER/38.2 IP) over a six-start span June 18-July 14 - but only picked up two wins during that time frame...twirled his only complete game of the season September 7 at Florida in a 6-1 New York win...had the worst offensive support of all starters in the majors, as the Mets scored just 3.27 runs per start while he was on the mound.
