Contract purchased from Triple-A Albuquerque on April 7...batted .258 (8x31) with a triple and five RBI in 24 games before suffering a stress fracture on his left foot which caused him to miss the majority of the season... placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 3 and transferred to the 60- day DL on July 28...played LF, RF and 1B in 2000.

1999

Batted .194 with a home run and six RBI in 22 games with the Toronto Blue Jays, spending much of the season on the disabled list...began the season with Toronto, but was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 4 with a right knee injury...missed 37 games before being reinstated on June 16...went back on the disabled list July 9 due to a strained left oblique muscle and eventually missed the remainder of the season, being transferred to the 60-day DL July 20.

Split the season with Cleveland and Detroit...opened the season with the Indians and batted .200 with three doubles, a triple and three RBI in 20 games...on the disabled list from May 5-June 3 with a torn plantar fascia in his right foot...traded to Detroit on June 24 in exchange for right-handed pitcher Tim Worrell and minor league outfielder Dave Roberts...hit career home run number 100 on July 9 off Woody Williams of the Blue Jays...it was his only home run of the season...
